Before sharing, could you give a bit more background as to 1. Why you wanna buy a club? => Just obtained my handicap and like to play more often 2. For golf or family? => Both. 3. Where do you stay? => Lor Chuan 4. Where do all your good kakis play? => just 2 kakis at the moment and we play mostly in JB which is too troublesome. 5. How often do you play a week/month ? => once a month and looking into playing more often
That would help us understand and give you a better picture...
Adious
Honestly, you don't need to buy either.. You get 2 good courses in NSRCC Changi and Kranji, total of 45 holes - 5 nines, MBGC though it's a bit more expensive, and you can through few credit cards or golf kakis etc play at Keppel, OCC etc..
I am a member of Keppel and it's now a white elephant for me... Both courses are equally crowded, so you can forget about feeling "exclusive" at either.. If you wanna bring family for a swim etc, I think the Jurong swimming complex got a great pool... Seletar got a new 18 holes, gonna play there soon, but I heard it's pretty crowded too especially during weekends..
Also, staying at Lor Chuan means you need at least 30 mins of travel time to either courses.. Not far, but its different if say you stay at Telok Blangah or Pasir Panjang area which is very near to Keppel for eg..
Personally, I think NSRCC would be a great "club" for you, cheap, nice pool, bungalows and various sports facilities, and you have lotsa GR members playing there every week.... So you don't need to worry whether your membership is fully utilized..
Just my 2 cents worth mate...
+1 for the good feedback. I was also tempted to pick up Kep but doesn't look like a wise move.

| IMHO, unless the club got more than one course, or else it's be a long queue for wkend irregardless it's Keppel or Seletar. I think overall it's come back to where your kakis are and where you stay. For me definitely seletar, because only 5-10 mins drive from my home. | |

OCC? they are a bit like NSRCC.... Why is that so? I would recommend OCC and if I have the cash, I will certainly buy OCC.

Think all Sg clubs are v crowded weekend or weekdays... back to back flights! IMHO so for beginner suggest still go to JB lah till u get better.. think more relaxing to play there without the hi pressure of marshals watching u, hurrying u, worrying whos looking at ur tee off n be embarressed if it didnt launch as planned, flights behind chasing u etc... weekdays in JB like ghost town and weekends very tolerable... if money no issue go to the better ones eg Horizon Hills, Tanjong Puteri..

no predators there.... only dogs Last time I played at Kranji with you... I'm still in debt on the beer. So, put it this way... every predator needs a home. It'll just be like walking from one lion cage to another

| Sorry to dig up an old thread. How about between OCC vs Keppel vs Seletar. I'm also thinking of buying one and my requirements as follows. Any advice appreciated.
Only weekdays golf Rest of facilities seldom use Don't like Nsrcc cos prefer to play leisurely pace (doesn't mean slow. Like can stop after 9 holes for a quick drink type) Stay in tanjong pagar

Generally it doesnt matter weekdays or weekends, I find playing in most SG courses crowded and stress. Its like step-in into buggy, then cheong.... I guess, it is a fact of playing SG. The other way to go around this, is can you find a GC that you can make full use (or as much as possible) and sweat every pennies worth (but not abuse it). Let me show you an example. A colleague of mine has a membership RSGC in KL City. He stays in far of place in Shah Alam. He will take a early morning trip to RSGC and plays a 9 hole then he proceed to hole himself in one of the study room and do his virtual meetings conf call. At lunch he goes range then take a shower. After that, he goes back to meeting and in the evening, he can try to play a 18 hole, then follow by meetings and dinner... then go home. Talks about value for money....he has a lot of value entertainment in golfing...
