Yes, I am aware of that. Trackman is popular on the PGA Tour. You get to see it in action on TV. What I meant was most shots done at Fuzion were indoor. So there will be some discrepancies in the actual ball flight.

That is shot link. The figures captured makes up for more than whatever discrepencies there is (if there is in the 1st place).

rocky wrote:

Definitely, buying clubs off the rack is not the way to go. Let's establish that. You may or may not be aware that I recently switched out of my cast iron sets for customized sets as well. Off the racks just don't work as well.

When I talk about feel, I mentioned "feel on contact". Please don't take it too far. I am only referring to that moment of impact when you hit the sweet spot on the club. I am not talking about things like "I feel I am a XXX-Stiff flex". I think whoever says that is b$$$$hit.

I agree with you on the point of streotyping and the "popularly-overused way (of) the 20th century golfer". Marketing played a big role in this.

What I would like to say is that the fitter has opened up a whole new world of options for you. From what you said, you seem to have shut out softer flexes before. Now, he has introduced softer flexes to you. Options are good when you are out of ideas. But options are not good when you have something that is working because they force you to reconsider.

New equipment always give the player a new perspective. Whenever I get a new equipment, I ALWAYS rave about how good it is, how much research I've done before getting it, the price, etc etc. Bring it on the course and the flaws jump at me like a T-Rex hunting for it's prey (pun intended! Just a joke, no offense!)

I have never been a person who likes changes - "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". To me, clubs are like tools or weapons on the golf course. Whichever you deem most suitable, use it. A new tool may help, but may not be always the case. It really depends on the situation and the individual. The most definitive answer to whether the new club works or not is to bring it to the course. If you shoot lower scores with it, great! If you can hit 9 more types of shots with it, lagi better! No matter how many tools you have, it's still 14 in the bag. So choice is important.

Understood. My tools in the bag ain't broke. In fact, they have been pretty good to me. I went there in search of a new driver but their fitting policy is to check out the whole set. I was never pressured to buy or get anything I did not need. I left the place without a new set of irons but with the data and knowledge in my hands of what shafts and combos suit me best. I do not shut out softer flexes as I know I have been always in between a hard 'S' and a soft 'X' so the option to go either way is there IF there are quantifiable results to prove to me I should stick to a certain one. It is refreshing to know that S shafts can give better results than X even with the fact that I am happy with my shot dispersion alr.

I see the fact that the golf industry in Sg has not been as matured and established as here in US so I will try my best to open the eyes of Singaporeans by going thru and re-living the experience of mine to others so that we will not be cocooned into thinking certain styles, equipment and culture are the right and only options.

Thanks all.

We just came back from our range and putting session. Overall, the things I was told to work on in my swing are starting to slowly be ingrained although I did hit some squirly ones which was expected.

The putting session was great! The feel of the putt coming off the face is just like the TW tip on imagining the sensation of hitting a high draw with the putt. The ball comes off differently now and there is noticeable less veering and skidding on my straight putts.

I will be playing my 1st game tmr. The golf equipment hasn't changed yet but the difference in swing thoughts will definitely play a part.

Hey Rex, thanks for the very enlightening post. Ya, agreed the Spore golfing community definitely have not reached the level of maturity like in the US, but we will get there one day, slowly..... Well, we have the 1st trackman in Spore liao..... cheers

I think you should seriously consider a career switch to either become a golf fitting pro or golf journalist, cos your passion for the game is insatiable!!! 8) :

Well, they said good things come in pairs. After my eye-opening fitting session, here's the story of my round after that:

Met a young couple on the range last week when I was there with my wife and we got to chatting. He mentioned that they were from Canada and decided to settle down here so that he can improve on his golf and try to take it to the next level.

Met them again a few days later at the pool and thats how we found out we were neighbours. Got to chatting again, exchange of numbers and names (he's Chris) and fixed up a game for today.

He brought his friend Matt. I was like ok, I haven't played with good players in a while and glancing at his equipment (All the latest Callaways) he looks to be a decent player so it was good that 3 guys can have a decent game together.

We settled on some small bets ($1 skins, $2 birdies and no wins if best score is a bogey) and Matt asked if I play off the blues or the tips. I told them I wasn't a long hitter so can we get off the blues instead.

Well, the 1st hole I hit it pretty solid and landed in the middle of the fairway. Then it was the 2 guys turn. Matt hit it to the right side of the fairway and Chris hit it to the left. We drove up and well, they were a good 30 and 40yds past me respectively. I was like 'here we go again'. We all halved the hole.

Next hole 515yd par 5. We all hit ok drives and again they were about 30 yds ahead this time but in the rough while I was on the fairway. I then hit the shot of my day - A 225yd drawing 3h and stuffed it to 8ft. They were like 'nice shot' and I was really pumped. However I missed the putt (!) haha but the birdie put me in pretty good spirits.

We got to chatting on the next tee waiting for the front to clear and I found out that Matt was actually Matt Denzer, the Director of Golf at the David Leadbetter Academy here in PGA National. I was like ok, I didn't know you were a pro so why are we all playing scratch? haha.

They both rebutted me pretty well and Matt said, '$^&& why the hell aren't u playing the tips and pulling us up to the Blues girlie? You are not going to sandbag us after all you did on the previous hole'. My Day @ Fuzion Golf in Jupiter, Florida. - Page 2 Icon_lol

The next 16 holes were a blur to me as a spiral of my game started and never recovered fully. Walking off the 18th, I had alot of circles on my score : 8 over. Not good cos I was scrambling for the pars I made too with some nice sandy saves and holed a couple of 8 fters but nothing spectacular with everything else.

The 2 of them in a summary of their game, were pounding it 40-50yds ahead of me and Matt put it on the right fringe with his drive on the 12th, a 296yarder of a Par 4 with water guarding the left to the green into a 15mile cross and headwind and oh ya, nearly holed his eagle chip too. Chris manage to gouge out 170yd 8 irons and 210yd 5irons from medium rough to 15-20ft pin high on a couple of occasions while I punted my ball along, hoping to find the hole somehow.

After the round, I thanked them for their time. Matt told me that I shd go see him if I have time. I told him I couldn't afford the USD$200/hr sessions. He said no worries, since I was Chris' neighbour and 'friend', plus the fact I stay inside PGA National, he will charge me half of that. He'll also bring me on a coaching round on the Championship course, home of the Bear Trap for the 2nd lesson.

Well, it was a blessing that I didn't play great. At least he saw what was wrong with my game and it will be better when I hook up for a lesson.

And oh, just for the record, managed to find out that Greg Norman and Denis Watson from the Champions Tour pops by for a lesson or 2 sometimes.

http://davidleadbetter.com/2006/11/david-leadbetter-certified-instructors.html#denzer

My 1st lesson will be next week. I need to work on how to close up that 40-50yd gap. My Day @ Fuzion Golf in Jupiter, Florida. - Page 2 Icon_lol

Anyways.. GO, GO S70B kick some ang moh butt!! (then come back and teach me)

KT, I promise to pay you back your GST if you email to MM again that the previous one was from a spammer.

Rogy, I dunno if there is a SMCC for you. hahaha.

Solarpop, luckily I'm not into SQ. But the level of play my neighbour showed alr proves I'm far far behind...and he's not even a pro or a leading amateur at all!

Guys, I guess its just like what Solarpop said, it helps that I'm a real golfnut and being in the right place at the right time. There's nothing much else to do in your spare time in FL if you don't fish or golf.

My 5 other colleagues are running out of ideas wat activities to come up with for weekends or early days off here. They do not golf. My Day @ Fuzion Golf in Jupiter, Florida. - Page 2 Icon_lol
