| Hi all,
I'm new to the forum. My group is working on a sch project to improve golf courses and to increase environmetal awarenessss in golfers, we have come up with the idea of having biodegradable golf balls with environmental messages on it for golfers to use.
What are your thoughts on this idea? Feasible?
Feel free to comment and thanks!!

| If price and quality remains the same, why not?
That being say how environmentally unfriendly are golf balls? Those that goes into the water are normally fished out and sold as second hand balls. Recycling, reuse and reduce.
Think you should look elsewhere to save the world.

| hi nrafee thanks so much for your comment!
my group is currently looking into creating golf balls using lobster shells which we realised that certain countries have been using it through some research online. it is said that the balls will dissolve in a week or so but it may be plagued with certain problems such as the demand of lobster shells and the golfers' playing habits as well.
we are exploring the idea that biodegrable balls are cheaper than normal balls sold in shops (and maybe cheaper than the second-hand balls you mentioned) with the proceeds being channeled to fundraising efforts for charity organisations, who will be making these balls. The project we're doing is just a proposal of idea, not the actual realisation of it.
Yes, you're right, indeed we are far from being environmental stewards of our planet hence we hope to raise awareness through these efforts.
just wondering - would you consider purchasing some of those biodegrable balls should they really be on sale (assuming it doesn't affect gameplay)?

| Bio degradable golf ball - bad idea.. Who is going to buy these balls if it decay to a mess after a number of weeks? Anyway, as narafee mentioned , this is probably a sideline for some poor folk who fish them out of the lake or rough to resell them. Maybe you could look at solar powered buggy etc . Just my 2cents | |
