| I have this problem too... Saw somewhere that the drill to prevent hitting on the heel is to take a setup and swing and purposely miss the ball on the inside... do this 3 time and on the 4th swing, go for the shot... I use this drill whenever I am hitting on the heel and caused a dead shank. It work on me... | |

And another good thread discussing this in detail, with different points of view from knowledgeable people on why it happens.
Lee, very good video clip you have posted here. In a nutshell, this video clip tells one to maintain the spine angle thru'out the swing and your chest stack against the ball on impact.

Pro, I do take inside early. May I know, why is taking inside too early will get stuck on the down swing? Thanks A bit hard without showing you but very basically... If when you take the club away, and before the shaft is parallel to the ground, the clubhead and the hands are inside your "feetline" (which is parallel to your target line). Then you are going to be stuck on the way down, so 1 of 2 things is likely. You will cast the club, therefore you will cut across your target line and Slice or Pull. Or you will stand up pulling your hips away from the ball which will result in pushes and shanks. and you will see the impact marks near the hosel you show. This is good position. This one not so good, he is already stuck.... no chance to get back to target line. This is very quick explantion, I know there are smarter folks than me that will disagree, but this is most likely your issue without seeing first hand.

| Basically just look for wedges with more bounce, more forgiving face. Some wedges are meant for better players and good ball strikers . At the end of the day it's about doing what it takes to find out what works best for you | |

Face I thought is ruled by R&R? I'm quite confuse with the bounce, does higher bounce equate to easier wedge?

Thanks once again Hi Seebayho, I have the same problems also & recently it gets worse as my past few games scored badly due to I shank the ball terribly. I tends to hit the hosel of the club often & lost my confidence on my iron shots especially par 3's. Hope the tips here can show me the right solutions. Thanks

Here are the good tips from Lee http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/topic/404520-drills-to-stop-humping-the-goat/
The tips from Eiji and Shorthitter also works.
To summarize, 1. maintain your spine angle ( this could be the main cause) 2. Take away along your toe line ( see Eiji and shorthitter) 3. Imagine you have a fence from the ground up to you hip, The fence is between your hand and your hips. During the swing make sure your hand does not hit the fence. ( this helps a lot)
Hope this help. | |

That's ball mark... After repeated hits. He is hitting in continuously at the sweet spot. No chalk la... Because the club face is dark colour therefor the ball mark is clear.
