Ok guys, i know this may sound a bit stupid, but i would like to ask what do you all mean by 1-1 or 2-2 or 3-3 etc etc. when you talk about giving strokes etc? Embarassed

matchplay format
1-1 = 1 stroke given on hardest ie lowest index hole on front 9 and another on back 9
2-2 = 1 stroke each on the 2 lowest index holes on each front n back 9
usually there will be adjustment after 1st 9 holes eg.. win 2 holes reduce 1 stroke on back 9

courses r USUALLY indexed odd numbered index on front n even numbered index on back.

so when somone says "i give u 4 strokes in matchplay".. its is understood that will be on the index 1 to 4 holes.

i see.. so that means the first digit indicates the total number of strokes and the second digit indicates the number of holes per 9hole? (something like that i guess?)

but will it always be one stroke?
lets say i'm really lousy, then someone wanna give me 2stroke per hole.. so it'll be called:
2-1?

no
the first number is front 9, back number is back 9

if you are getting 2 strokes per hole, it would be 18-18

PS. at 18-18, i seriously think you shouldn't bet, concentrate on playing better, even if you win with those type of strokes, i don't think there's any point.

No.
2-1 means total you get 3 strokes. 1 stroke on index 1 and index 3 holes on front 9. 1 stroke on index 2 hole on back 9.

2 strokes per hole = " 2 strokes per hole"
or in GR, some ppl will pass you a range card, ask u go practice... albino

That means 0 strokes on par 3, 1 stroke on every par 4, and 2 strokes on par 5

matchplay is where golfers compete on a hole by hole basis, while stroke play is where every single stroke is summed up and the eventual winner is the one with the least strokes.

For example:

in matchplay: at hole 4, i triple bogey and you par, you will win that hole..and so on and so forth, at the end, we count who wins the most holes.

in strokeplay: just sum up the total number of strokes taken over the entire round to see who's the winner: the person with the lesser number of strokes.

There are differences in rules as well, but for that, i guess i'll leave it to the experts.

When Mloy says "Hi, I'm Mloy. I'll take X-X from you," it's actually golf lingo for "Hi, I'm Mloy. Bring out your checkbook and cash, bit@h!"

I wonder if this was how the banks got together after the financial industry flopped.
