Hope the tournaments will be opened to all, and not just MGK members.

Junior Tournaments will be open to all, MGK Junior members will enjoy a preferential rate. However, Juniors who wish to sign up for MGK Junior Membership during these event can do so at a heavily discounted rate.

In any case will keep u guys posted.

Anyone knows the opening hours of the course and how to book (on site or via phone)

My 2 kids played there Fri evening and again this afternoon, and they enjoyed the new layout becos the holes are longer and more challenging for them

Just to confirm. It's $16 for weekdays for 6 holes? Can choose just to play one round ?

Unfortunately, there is no option to just play 6 holes. Usage of the course is on a 2 round basis. i.e. $32 for weekdays, 12 holes.

Do you guys have trolley for kids and how much is the rental?

To Jason and Sally of TGC,

I like to thank you for the hospitality that was rendered to me and my family on 25th feb Sat.

You all were great, taking care of the kids' needs, making sure the trolley fits and even lend my son a junior bag to fit onto the trolley.

Also, a great thank you for the 2nd round! It was great fun for my faily at the course, which had been beautifully restored. The grass is great and the green is fun. I must say the sand bunkers are very well maintained.

It had been a great time and we will be back next month for more!!

Unfortunately there is no shower area at Tanglin and there are currently no plans to include one.

Most course do their maintainance on Mondays.

Hi all, sorry have not checked this thread in a while. To answer the questions:

1) Tanglin is open everyday from sun up to sun down
2) It takes slightly more than 2 hours for a flight of 4 to finish 12 holes
3) Adding a Par 4 there is not likely because of the size and layout of the course.

Went to Tanglin with wifey who is new to golf.

I must say the fairway is very narrow especially for the longer holes.
I can't get one on except for the 64mtr one. LOL.

The weather makes it tougher, hot and humid.

Just beware of commando red ants, one landed on my neck and it was "OUCH!!!!"
Also not forgeting the commando mosquitoes.

The pitching and putting green is great while waiting for friends.

Do you recall which hole you were at when the red ant dropped on you? The specifics will help when I speak to pest control.

I can't recall but I could recall it's at one of the back 3 holes. right hand side of the fairway.

Since we are into this topic, the ground have also red ants but smaller ones. I was bitten thrice through my socks! OUCH again! these ants are really tough. Just watch out for the roots of the trees if your ball lands there.................

Anyway, it was a great experience and it's good for training short games.

I think i can help here.
My friend was bitten at hole 6. Somewhere 20m Front right of the tee box. Near the place with the porcelin vase.

Anyway to back up Smun's experience.

I started out playing Tanglin after getting my PC. Its not a particularly challenging course, but i think thats not really the point.

I found the training sessions there helpful to my irons control and accuracy. It has allowed me to confidently drop the ball on the green from 120m in.

To increase the challenge,
I purposely played a high fade on hole 2 and a low draw on hole 5 to avoid the trees and send the ball over the "fairway" onto the green. Quite fun, and gotta be very precise to keep the ball in play.

Greens are relatively slow,
but i guess its good for beginners to learn the fundamentals of putting.

One suggestion will be to mow the grass of the "fairways" shorter, to create a effect of a good shot vs a shot in the rough. This can help to encourage youngsters and beginners play a good controlled game.

Currently, i still play with my beginner friends there to practise my short game and help my friends improve.
