PostSubject: Buaya, Yes or No?   Buaya, Yes or No? I_icon_minitimeThu Dec 29, 2011 8:29 pm

Recently I played in the medal games in TMCC (Tampines) the Div B champion scored a total of 42 pt in stableford system 36.

If I remembered correctly, system 36 pt are
Bogey - 1
Par - 2
Birdie -3
Better - 4?

Div B is are for handicapper 18-24. How can the winner get so many pts? Because scoring in that course is not easy let alone it's for 18-24 handicappers. I really felt cheated by all these buayas, can't they go find some other div where they can find their match?

Sad to say, it is common. In fact, most of the buaya are in Div B. These people are out there to win without integrity.

Look at it this way, winning without honor doesn't feel that great deep down. Also the prizes are not fantastic. So we don't lose much and they don't gain much also..

anyway stableford is not calculated by how you mentioned it.. it varies with the handicap index of each hole and blah blah blah (too complicated to explain). so that player can score 85-90 and still get such high points

Ms lee, non-member can play medal meh?

Anyway, 42 points is like nett six under, so if he is a 15 hcp, he just need to play 81 to get 42 pts.

In my view, the only way to solve these is DQ player that has exceptionally scores using the following USGA probability table.

Easier still, all a 24 hcap needs to do is get bogey all the way (which will give him 12 nett pars and 6 nett birdies) and he will get 42 points, so quite easy to win.

42 is nothing to those won by 50 points...

Basically, all you need is a pro pretending to be a 22 or 24 hcper

to play 42 points in System 36 stableford means that guys has to play at least 6 birdies or 3 eagles based on his score of the day. By no means an easy feat lei.

My question is not so much a buaya or the person's ability, but was the scorecard "doctored"?

Ermm.. I think the score after handicap adjustments is used for stableford and not the gross score.

Thus, a 24 Hcap who bogey all the holes will have:
Holes Index 1-6: Nett Birdies (3 pts each =18 pts)
Holes Index 7-18: Nett Pars (2 pts each = 24 pts)

As what SamT and other mentioned, 42pts is not high as it possible for a 24 hcap to get that quite easily, esp those who plays <18 hcap but keeps a 24 hcap. The buayas are those who have >50+ pts.

Ewyeo, usaully in division B (18~24HCP), a stableford score of 42 to 45 is a norm winning score in our region. Maybe people in our region here are very humble and usually submit score card in a 456 style leh? Play 4, say 5, write 6.
I think the next possible thing is in our region, the div B golfer always played with Blue Tee (which they are not suppose to) and submit their score card. When come to a competition game and playing off white, is much easy for them hence the good score leh?

high 40s (47, 48, 49) small Buaya already, especially if you see they never blow any hole, a few birdies, mostly pars and 2 or 3 bogeys.

24 handicap means the person usually plays high 90s and low 100s and occasionally mid/low 90s to get the 24 handicap. No way such player can get high 40s in stableford.

a 24 handicaper that bogeys every hole has play one of his best games liao.

Buayas are the longest living pre-historic dinosaur to be still around after all the other reptiles failed to make it through to this millenium. So rest assured that they will be around for a long long time, even after the human species no longer exist. So you see they are very very hardy animals that cannot be easily eliminated and are not called buayas for nothing.

bro i not sure abt 4D... but for a hcp 24 to play 81/83 off blue, the chances are so minimal.... nd to do it for 2 consec days.. i choose not to believe.....

Thailand not much difference too!

I once played in a competition in Black Mountain Hua Hin, and an ang moh won playing of a 80% handicap of 26, scoring 48 stableford points.
