| Not really because I couldn't get any distance off the tee. | |

| Used to do that as well the first year. Actually I still play some roundsw here I am only 'allowed' to hit 3-wood from the tee and for the rest irons only. Scores are very comparable with my normal rounds. 4 iron vs 3 wood is only a little loss of distance for me at the moment...
Next week i will play a round with irons only, see how it goes!

| i used to play just irons during my 2nd-3rd year into golf.....
makes me realised the importance of good course management.....
cos i dun have as many penalty strokes as compared when i go for distance.....

| I still remember when i started playing golf, people used to call me Iron Man just because i teed off using 7 iron. Kinda embarrassing.. those were the days. Now no more. (Pardon me for my bad English. Still learning) | |

| Used to play that when I was overseas with some Kakis ages ago as part of a betting format (irons + putter only, with exeception to par 5s which are drivers only... no irons or putter. Enter bunker for par 5, hole over). Quite fun to insert some entertainment but doubt the marshals or the flights behind in Singapore courses will entertain this...
But actually, except for betting purposes, I see no real reason for not using the whole set of clubs unless your irons can go 200m+ or if you really cannot play your driver/woods/hybrid. If want to train iron, then the range may be a better place.
Just a few cents worth from a lousy golfer.

| I used to ditch all my woods and just use a 4i to tee-off. Back then, I could do wonders with my 4i. Can even play with a nice draw.
Now, the 4i is there for show. To make matters worse, my woods are also unreliable.

| Thanks for sharing... I'm considering using only irons to play too.
I'm having so much fun: 1) 5i distance further than Driver 2) 5w distance further than Driver 3) P distance further than 8i
.... like playing tikam... LOL~!

I disagree. It depends on who you play with. If with me, still got good chance. If with Sham... sure die.

No doubt there. But don't recall if you used FWs or Hybrids. I simply recall that your drives were followed by excellent iron play.

| Wrong la.. if playing off blue, I would normally have to approach the green using my woods. Lately my short irons giving me problems. Need to go range and fixed that but hor, no time lei and back hurts... | |

| This was an advice that was given to me by a very wise old man who is also a scratch golfer.
Bring only the clubs that you need to the corse or clubs that you are most confident in using. For me now, only have driver, 5i, 7i, 9i, P, 56, 60 & putter. With good course management, it has helped me to cut 10 strokes from my game because I no longer cheong holes and screw up my shots.
Picture this - Par 5 500yds
(Driver - 200y) + (7i - 140 * 2) =that is already 480yds
Chip + put = Par.
For long Par3, I actually lay up. You would be amazed at the results you get. MAybe when I can finally break 100 consistently, might start to put more clubs into the bag.
