| can i share something...
I have a golf buddy who can only hit his best drive within 180 to 200 yards.
Most often my wife would even out drive him.
But my Golf Buddy bought a Honma driver last year and is now bombing his ball....farther than us. My average drive is 250 to 270yards.
"Bombing the ball to a Far Away distance" is like a Macho thing for us "Men" specially when you have four guys lining up.
The thing is distance is nothing if your not accurate & do not a Good course management skills
What separates us, Amateur and the Pro's is that they can play all day long and everyday. While we, we the average Sunday or recreational Golfer have an average skills.
Their Recovery shot are always a class act. You just have to work on the short game...for a One Pitch One Putt act.
Michelle Wie & John Daly are known bombers, but they couldn't arrived just like Yani Tseng & Rory McILroy does.
Lastly, just enjoy the game bro. Forget the distance and just hit your ball
Finding the right equipment can helped you gained distanced

Bro,
Wah! You wife outdrive him. That must really demoralised him. Is it from same tee box or Red tee? If from Red tee, it's not counted leh.

| I'd take accuracy over distance, to be honest. But it's nice to hit a long one every now and then. | |

- I mention I view it differently, i view it as a competition vs myself, hitting further, or scoring lower, its to improve, more of a personal feat. Golf to me is different kind of sport vs other ball games/sports like Tennis/Basketball/soccer/ etc, where it is always played with an opponent. The objective is scoring against someone, golf is scoring against the the course or yourself. In the process of scoring against the course or yourself, you make comparisons with your mate or opponent playing with you. But how well your mate/opponent plays can have very little or no bearing to how you play, which is different in other sports, its less head-on, with the exception of Match-play.

Reading between the lines here, but from what I read, you are playing this different from me, thats what I meant, because if I were to say the same line. It would come out as "To me, iron play and short game is still the key to lower scores."
We just view the game differently, but i think the end result is we both want to play better, score lower, drive longer, hit closer to the pin. Very confusing. But to sum it up... you prefer stroke play more than match play... so next time i know what kind of game format to play with you.
To say that you are not playing with your opponent, its not really applicable when stakes are involve. For stroke play, like most touranments, we play conservative, we do not multiply the errors. We can always park the putt or lay up and hope for 1 chip 1 putt.
But for matchplay, the above does not apply. you must either safe play or go for it. If you really need to hole the putt, you must ensure that your ball pass the hole, dun pass hole, no chance at all. But pass the hole, and especially downhill putt, the result maybe worst. And the score on one hole doesnt really affect the next hole but stroke play, its has alot of impact.
Anyway... this weekend, on your vegas, you might see a difference.... must think about it... sometimes be hero on one hole, might end up zero on the next....
NB, i think I OT again..... but some good material for some betting game.
Hehehehehe...LeVegas babe !

| Wanna be the first one to get out of buggy to hit the 2nd shot,I'm not the one.If I'm playing blue tee,I need distance to bring me for my 2nd shot that I rather choose iron beside choosing fairway wood or rescue wood. | |

Yani Tseng is no1 in driving distance...reason she is not know as a long distance hitter is because she is so good in other things
same as Rory...not the longest but among the longest.
dont need to be the longest...just need to be long
for white tee...at least 220m
