| Itsuki, I'm new to golf. So I'm pretty much trying to build my set as I go along. A friend gave me a rife putter. He's tall and huge.. so he's using a 35" putter. Me.. i'm about 1.6m.. so the putter is definitely too long for me. Bro DGMan measured me up.. let me try a 32" putter and gave me another putter which is more upright to see which one i'm comfortable with. Putt a few times.. and almost instantly i managed to find my desired length and lie. Bro DGMan went one step further by adjusting the loft.. something which i obviously know nuts about. Long story short.. end result.. the putter feels much much more comfortable. I dunno how to describe.. but as i stand and prepare myself to putt the ball.. it just feels right. Unfortunately i can't give you scores to see if my putting has improved as I'm not a regular course player. but feel wise.. it's there. Hope this helps. | |

| Thanks Bro Cyrano for sharing. So in the end, you cut your putter to 31.5". Was the loft adjusted? How much was the cost to do so? I'm about your height too. Has been contemplating to cut my putter as I tend to have a chicken-wing stance when standing over my ball... | |

| Yes.. cut down my putter to 31.5". Bro DGman wanted to try to save my existing grip.. but i told him i wanted to change grip. He automatically adjusted my loft and lie.. and gave me a few pointers as well. Not sure if it is appropriate to mention price here.. but i can tell you for sure he charge as per market rate. I've asked around.. so i know the kind of pricing. My total damage for cutting the shaft, adjust loft, adjust lie, new grip.. is well below $50. But the service is first class.
Summary : Price - Market rate.. don bother looking elsewhere. Ambience/atmosphere - Really nice and cosy place.. but at the same time very professional setup. Service - Excellent. He may even give you a few pointers.. FOC. | |

| shhh...shhhh...
with most putters, the loft and lie are easily changed during the course of play...
1. leaning on the putter 2. throwing the putter when one miss a 2 footer 3. bag clatter and travel or even handling 4. opponents out to sabotage....(rare but it happens especially before i play with Slinger)
when we cut the putter, it is important that we explained changes like swing weight, total club balance, MOi issues, grip choices.
Cyrano putter was a bit off, the loft was a -3 degree and he probably had a lot of skid on his putts before that. now having cut the putter is only one of the solution to get his arms and putter into a Y setup instead of a T setup (hinged elbow which tends to produce a putt).
we also need to show him why its important to know how to aim with a flathead and therefore adjust the lie to ensure that he set up correctly. adjusting his putter flatter takes care of that. i believe its sitting at 67 degree.
having said that. when we first bought the mitchell putter bending machine, we asked ourselves...S$1600, how many putters do we need to bend to break even. now as our customers putt better, the answer is not in breaking even but the joy we get in helping our customers improve. corny but its true. of course when we built ZEN putters, every piece is built as close to the optimal set up as possible so its a necessary tool to have in order to be a ZEN centre. Now the putting green is another matter.
Cheers......DGman

| See, told you just get it cut and don't worry about the rest. Clubfitters will know what to do with the technical aspects. I hope you took down your "specs" so that you can use them for future fitting. | |
