PostSubject: KZG v Miura Irons   KZG v Miura Irons I_icon_minitimeMon Oct 31, 2011 11:10 pm

Question for all the kzg n miura owners here. Why did u choose one over the other ? Quality of the forging ? Feel ? Superior fitting process ?

Thanks in advance for sharing.

YMMV with various brands and makes. Find what suits you not what the masses say.

I use a brand/model that is seldom if ever mention in the forums from a underrated company.

I think there is a reason for every brand and every club...and there is a place for each of them

just like we have a place for each of us in this world

profound rite?

If quality and price stands equal. I think the next determining factor would be your comfort level with the club fitter and the suitable shaft recommended to you. I feel the that is very impt. If correctly fitted, it can make ur mediocre club heads deliver superior performance.

Got a Fren who was recommended to change from a 105g shaft on his mizunos to a close to 135g shaft. That's almost 30% heavier. Spent 800 on these shafts and he could not handle it. In the end have to spend another 250 restarting it back to lighter shafts.

I tried both the miura and KZG. In terms of feel, both are equally soft . Decision went to the miura because of folowing reasons;

1. unique head design. Looks like a piece of artwork rather than typical iron head.

2. Miura are hand grind finished for every single piece.

3. Price point, not much different

4. Miura wedge gives me better control and accuracy over the KZG

5. Miura commands better re-sale value in-case I decide to change to newer models in future.

Above points contributes to my decision on miura.

Tried both before I ended up with my current KZG.
Feel wise, both are soft upon impact. But.......
IMHO, my KZG set is more forgiving as compared to Miura on off centre hits.
Plus the pricing difference between the 2.

But like Eiji pointed out, you need to try out the irons available yourself to know what you really like.

p.s Eiji'a Adam A12 is one awesome set Which I would hv gotten if I had tried it before I gt my set

Hmm.. quote from someone famous from china if I'm not mistaken.

i tried both clubs but only owned one of them, the other one is only at the fitting session with 30-40 balls, so I can't really comment which one is better since it's a fitting session only and there are other factor that contribute to how the club fells (shaft, lie, flex, grip etc).

So there you go no comment from usability perspective, so it's not much help.

Now if Asahi will lend me his club that would be another story all together.. Smile

The KZG is a much better iron than the Miura, IMHO. But there are about a dozen better irons out there than these two brands. Just because Miura made irons for the bigger company, doesn't mean they are the expert on iron. Adams players' cavity, Mizuno blades, just to name a few, are way better than the Miuras.

In fact, go and try the BFG iron, I think there will be a demo session soon at Keppel. It is amazing how such a simple design (competitive price too, if that is one of your concern) can feel and play so good. You'll be pleasantly surprised!

Yarra,

you need to be specific on the iron which model to which model I think and how long you used them. To stereotype all iron from a company is a bit too much (with the exception of BFG, all the rest of the brand produce many type of iron). Also hitting a few balls to the wall or using the iron for 3-4 games is hardly what I can call credible feedback unless you are a Pro or single handicapper.

Personaly i've used Mizuno MP 68 for more or less a year before the switch to Miura Le 1957. 1957 is better hands down IMHO. Used Taylormade R7 CGB Max for 3 years and I feel Mizuno MP-68 is better than the Taylormade. I play on the green at least once a week and hit the range at least 2 times a week whenever possible with these clubs and have my ups and down.

Obviously there is a disclaimer here, those iron are using different shaft and setting and that should be taken into account as well, since they are all from different generation, specially the TM R7 CGB Max.

Never used any other iron in any meaningfull duration and way, so can't comment on the rest.

Which is better is a personal opinion and preference base on his/her criteria in choosing the make. So far no one claims that miura is an expert in iron design though they are definately one of the best forging house. To make a general statement "Adams players' cavity, Mizuno blades, just to name a few, are way better than the Miuras." is not correct imho.
