Now I have the habit of sending my newly purchase golf shoe to the cobbler to sew it.
Its last longer as I've experienced "open mouth" too . Since then, I've prefer to get it stitch. $RM15 for a pair.Anyway there's always a spare pair with sock in the bag. You never know when you need it. Yes cheap sale stuff does not last long though it's branded. bounce

Anywhere in Singapore where you can get your shoes stitched? Some place i asked cost about S$50. That's a little pricey considering you can get a pair of greenjoy for $68 from Transview.

If you frequent JB, head down to Plaza KotaRaya. The cobbler location is near the Mosque ablution area. A small corner. If theres not many customer, they stitch on the spot, else its around an hour. Just nice for you to have a long coffee break or even lunch. And at level3 or 4 scratch , there's a golf shop if you want to look see look see...

I may be wrong, but stitching new shoes could mean the cobbler is puncturing the waterproof membrane. That definitely voids your waterproofing warranty, and the soles of your shoes may never part, but you could have to live with two fishtanks on your feet through 18 holes. Especially with the weather being what it is now.

As for stictching after the soles come off, I was once told not to bother, since the shoes will never be waterproof ever again.

Perhaps someone who has worn both stitched old and new shoes can share on their wet day experiences.

After stitching, if definite not water proof anymore. I will downgrade the shoe to range only and keep it in the car

Reminds me of a question Derek asked when we played over the weekend. Which shoes would I use for wet weather golf and which I would use for dry weather golf. I said, "ADIDAS!!"

I only have one pair of Adidas shoes after all.

I think so far my experience with FJ have been good. I have a pair that have been downgraded to range and left in my car boot permanently and till date after 3 yrs it is still in good condition. The only problem I face was the lace tearing from the constant tying...I use it at the range a few days a week.

The current pair that I am using is also more than a year and still very good.

Think like what all others have said , shoes should be use regularly or else it will disintegrate. I have a pair of Ecco dress shoes which cost a few hundred dollars and I only use it occasionally...last month after leaving it in the cupboard for more than half a year I wore it. It disintegrated as I walk and it was so embarrassing. Have to drive home to change.

I have a pair of footjoy (classic design) with full leather top. Bought it in Los angeles while playing at the robinson Ranch course in 1999. till today, it is still in good condition. Only change the spikes a few times. that pair if I am not wrong is made in USA. I compare to FJ sold here, the quality seems to be inferior.( maybe material and made in china/thailand).

Still saw some real solid looking FJ when I visit the states every year. May be FJ care to comments on the diff.

I just came back from Pan West at JCC. Asked the man about the cost of the FJ shoes and was told after discount it's $79. That's quite a good deal I thought. I asked if there's warranty for the FJ shoes. Then an elder man from Pan West interjected and commented that "cheap models" don't have warranty.

I was taken aback by his choice of words, "cheap models" and immediately told him of his wrong choice of words. Is he saying that if I would be "cheap" if I bought that pair of FJ. Even the 1st salesman was taken aback by his colleague's comment from his facial expression.

I would have thought that "lower range FJ do not carry a warranty" would be more appropriate.

I think he meant to say that discounted models do not Include warranty. ROFL

Like I said, it's a wrong choice of words. Mouth work faster than the brain and he is a salesman, my God. I hope FJ's brand is not cheapened by him in this case. When he said those words he wasn't even smiling. Sad
