| If given a new chance to start your purchase all over again on the wedges, what would you buy?
I am looking at the titleist wedges which are on sale now at $139. Since I have been using hand-me-down wedges for some time, thinking of getting proper wedges this time round.
I have seen other people using wedges to spin their ball on the green and some even can "tarik" and "brake" with impressive results.
My thoughts:
Option 1: Only 1 wedge = 56 deg for general (sand), multi purpose use and pitching.
Option 2: 2 wedges = 56 deg for general, multi purpose use AND 60 deg for putting/chipping on the green.
Any advise? | |

| I use 3 wedges (52, 54 for sand, and 60), each serves different purposes. Always puzzle how to "tarik" and "brake" with such short swing. | |

| $139 for Vokeys is a good price! I think they are clearing stock to make way for the new Vokey SM4.
If I could reverse time, I would have taken more time to try more wedges and understand my wedges distances before getting my 2 Vokeys. I bought them hastily and now I have gaps in my below 100m and it seems like there are other great wedges out there too.

| Wa, really thanks for all feedbacks.
I know I have to start this discussion as I will surely regret if I rush into buying my Vokeys now.
I plan to buy 2 wedge (spin milled for the "tarik" and "brake" effect) - one to get out of the sand (52?) and the other to chip into the green (60?)
$139 for vokeys now at many places - Far East have them and more selections, Habourfront there is a small golf shop (which I bought a 56 as a gift to a departing colleague).

| Hi Kookk,
What are the 2 vokeys that you have in your bag?
What is your experience with the distance in relation to your 2 vokeys?

| I've just started using Vokeys and I like them. They're quite easy to use (fuss-free) and newbie-friendly I've got 48, 54 and 58. | |

What is your experience with the distance in relation to your 2 vokeys? My PW is a 47 and I have 54 and 60 for my vokeys. As you can see, I have a 7 and 6 degree gap in my wedges. I am able to do half swing and full swing for my wedges but I seem to have a tendency to screw up if I try to do 3/4 swings. I typically cover the following distances with my pitching swings, 47 - 100m 54 - 40m and 80m 60 - 30m and 60m Hopefully a 50 can cover 50m and 90m and a 58 will give me more consistency over the 60. Anyway, these are just estimates as of now. Still trying to sort it out.

| Just got myself a KZG TRS forged 56 with DG spinner...awesome spin. I have 3 wedges in my bag. 52 - 80M-90M 56 - 60M-70M 60 - 50M-60M Above are full shot distances. Otherwise depending on the type of shots required, chip..pitch..flop..bump & run. Been using Nike VRs wedges and am now venturing into other brands. Next to get will be the Miura Knuckle... | |

| Kuan,
I'm using my nike 4D PW for shots below 100m. Current wedge is a Dunlop "student" sand which rides high but just cannot stop on the green (I use sand to pitch into the green - reads overshot).

| Hi mickey,
don't forget u also have to consider the bounce of the club if u getting those higher loft. u can check the vokey website for more information on how to select club and also on bounce
btw pan west are selling cleveland cg 15 wedges at 89 only. not fantastic but pretty decent wedge

| 52 and 58 will give you better distance gap than 52/60. You can get out of sand with 58 as well, as long as it has enough bounce (> 108) use your 52 for long chips, with a little bit of roll use 58 or short chips, with less rolls ps; edited to accomodate andrew

| @mickey: consider the fourteen v4, currently on sale by transview at $120; you get a forged wedge feel with similar spin as vokey, and fourteens are really bunker friendly. I practiced at mbgc bunker area with a black ni vokey sm4 once, thereafter it looks like it has been used for 6 months. So many little scars on the face. My fourteen has gone thru many bunkers with me and the face still look nice @andrew: 8-9 bounce is WET bunker friendly and Seve also can get out of bunkers with 3 iron lah | |

| Alot of it also depends on your game or style of play. I personally like to bumb / chip and run for anything within 50yds to the green and also on the fringe. so I use alot of my gap and pitching wedge that comes standard with my set. I had to buy a 56* as a sand wedge and it works fine for me.
Floping it, or high shots so it lands and stops after one bounce is very inconsistent for me. Full swings on me 56* always end up topping the ball. so I rather 3/4 swing on my p & g which works wonders for me. IF i need to try and get the ball to check ater one bounce, I just bring my shaft / hands closer to the centre of my body. low follow through and the loft of the club does the rest. If i need the ball to run, more forward shaft lean.
SOrry if it does not make any sense. Just need to post something to show off my new signature

Always thought you were using cleveland wedges.... I was, and they served me very well. But I wanted a change. Except for my driver, most of my stuff has changed.
