SLA is under Min Law

All land matters under the purview of SLA unless allocated for other uses like ECDA for childhood education purposes etc....

What will happen to the Keppel members then? Wil they be compensated in any form?

I was told if a club lease is up n not extended. All the $ in their funds will goto charity.

Wonder if it's true and will apply in this case.

Guys I just realised Changi is extended. Isn't Changi the very old course with cow grass?? Expensive some more...

They'll not be compensated ... It is in the fine print of the contract ...

However, the members might be offered an alternative social club (not a golf club).

With today living standard, social club does not appeal as much as 10 years ago bcos almost every condo have swimming pools, gym n tennis courts.

Correct. When lease terminates, all the balance goes to charity. That's why Keppel should start benefitting their members by waiving their monthly subscription.

I have been a Keppel member for some years now, bought the membership at the "previous" low years ago. Played plenty of golf at Keppel, at least twice a week on the weekends for 5/6 years. Hv stopped golfing now, so this news does not bother me at all. I knew that it was a matter of time, esp when Reflections and the neighbouring condos started taking shape.

Like all things in life, a good thing must come to an end..... and your "happiness" is determined how you deal with such "set backs" and developments. For me, it means more time with family and other less time consuming sports / activities.

For all my fellow Keppel Club members, its sad I know, but life must go on....

But they need money to continue to maintain the club till it expires ...

i heard someone bought 3 Keppel membership at 9K recently hoping to make some money with top up....looks like it went up in smoke....

Well, he still is able to use these membership till 2024 ....at the price of $3k for 10 years...it is still decently priced if u ask me.

If the price is really $3K instead of $9K each, it is not only cheap but DAMN DIRT CHEAP. I will buy if someone willing to offer me that price.

Last para... so even though the leases for these are extended.. it will become smaller. NSRCC will lose one 9 hole + the par 3.. as I was told. not sure true or not. Have to wait and see.

Tanah Merah Country Club and National Service Resort and Country Club (Changi) will also be offered new leases. However, their courses will become smaller as parts of the sites will be affected by Changi Airport’s expansion plans, the details of which will be announced separately.

I heard for NSRCC, Air Force + Par 3 will be gone

if you look at the Q&A session the minister had with the various clubs, SICC was suppose
to lose both courses at the Bukit location in 2021. It was a concession to let them keep the Sime
course until 2030. Wonder if original intention was to pass the lease of Sime course over to Keppel.

Yes mate..

It is very clear we have to accept that going forward less golf courses would be around, and those still around would slowly lose the luxurious huge grounds they occupy..

For TMCC case, it was already decided that if the govt cannot find an alternative site for the Club, then the Club would re configure its existing grounds for a 18 holes course. Thus, Garden will still remain but with a different layout.. Further, it was also written in the email announcement that Tampines course would be extensively renovated into a championship course.. We'll see how it goes then... Laughing

Sad, NSRCC's executive course is the one i go most often. love it so much.
