| i have tried both the verity and the jpx800 irons. between the 2, the jpx800 definitely feels better, although effect on results is uncertain. | |

| Tried the JPX 800 on graphite, definitely light and easy to hit with its cavity back and at the same time preserves the thin sole that I like. Suitable for mid-high handicappers who are looking for distance and forgiveness. | |

| I tried this JPX-800 yesterday at golf house taka while I was there for purchase putter.
Very, very nice hitting irons (with the graphite shaft)!
However the list price of $2100 turns me off....(they mention can give 25% discount but still steep). Sales say this is compariable with the MP-53 and also a replacement for the MX (25?) series. The forged feel and thin sole makes it so easy to hit.
I wonder if I can get it cheaper somewhere...

| 2000+ is definitely not jpx800. I think you tried out the XD which is very different in material and workmanship compared to jpx 800 (blue) | |

Yes. I believe so. I tried out the JPX800XD. But could DimWit Kid help to point out the difference? I read that its a Super Game Improvement set by Mizuno? Is it suitable for high handicappers? Thanks!!

| Oic.
I saw the price tag listed $2100 (retail price) & got a shock.
I remember that the graphite shaft has a marking of 100. If I can reacall correctly is should be mx-100 graphite shaft?
The price tag definately out for me ($1000 still ok). But I am currently playing a very old mizuno POLARIS forged graphite 7 iron and cannot find anything similar. If anyone has a full set of Polaris, please let me know! The JPX800 I tried somes close to the feel of the polaris.
Does the normal JPX800 has a regular graphite shaft? Can anyone advise how a normal JPX800 (graphite) compares to the JPX800XD graphite?

| I'm loosing sleep on the JPX-800. (ok, I shouldn't have).
Searched the mizuno home page and they only have the IS4 graphite shaft available for this model. Is this shaft for the US market only?
Golfsmith list the JPX-800 for USD899 (excluding shipping), which translates to approximately S$1100. Any chance I can get this here for around 1.2K?
Or my eyes playing tricks on me to see a marking of "100" on the graphite shaft?
I've played the MX-20 on NSPro. How does the JPX-800 compare to the MX-20?
I'm infactuated! Help!

| Is the JPX 800 xd = JPX 800 pro. JPX 800(blue) can be bought at octane golf at bukit timah plaza for 1080 on ns pro shaft. Can't remember what price was for the graphite shaft. Unlike GH where you can try a variety of clubs at their indoor range , octane golf is just a store that sells new and 2nd hand golf clubs . | |

| The prices quote at GH is a "soft" price. All salesmen will give you a 25 percent discount. That is a marketing tool to make you feel good. Don't understand why can't they just put a fix price on the clubs. | |

JPX800-XD is a very different model from the JPX 800 Pro. Ok, here's a run down on the 3 different JPX800 models to my best knowledge. - JPX800 (with a blue colouring at the cavity back): This is the cast version - JPX800 Pro (with a consistent grey colouring at the cavity back): This is the forged version - JPX800 XD: This is a totally new set different from the JPX800 and the JPX800-Pro. The "XD" stands for "eXtra Distance" if I remember correctly. Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks.

| Yes, the XD stands for extra distance. And I must agree the only reason why I did not get it is due to the price tag! The qn is always does it justify that price? And if it justifies (technology etc) then how different is it from the rest? My coach swears by Japanese clubs, and I heard a lot abt Japanese taking lots of pride in their golf clubs. But.... Why so expensive? | |

| I have been using the JPX 800 Pro (Forged) since January this year. I would rate it as follows:
1. Dispersion - 9/10 (Subject to good contact) 2. Feel - 9/10 3. Forgiveness - 6.5/10 4. Distance - 8/10 (Subject to good contact)
FItted with KBS Tour Shafts the dispersion is tight esp on 6,7,8,9 and P. The KBS Shafts feels harsher on the longer 4 and 5 irons and is still work in progress. I may be considering of changing to DG S300 on the 4 & 5 irons.
Golf digest recommends the JPX 800 Pro for mid to low handicappers. I play to 19.4 Handicap and they work fine for me. For higher handicappers, if you are considering to get this set, it may take a while before you get adjusted to it. Forgiveness is definitely not in the bag. Took me 6 mths to get a good launch/flight even for my 7 iron , but of cuz thats contributed by my LOFT.
Mishits on the toe will not get the ball to launch as much as you will like. It will definitely punish you hard.
But now that I'm getting ingrained with the club and my swing, I have not considered changing my irons. This irons will be in my bag for a while.
Hitting pure on them is orgasmic and that pursuit for orgasm follows with every shot. I guess this is what the rave over Mizzys are all about and I second that.
In Singapore, I believe they market is JPX 800 Forged, without the PRO but I checked with the folks in Golf House they are the same thing as JPX 800 PRO.
For anyone interested in these clubs, IMHO they are a journey worth taking the first step

But.... Why so expensive? If you are concerned about prices being sold locally in Singapore, get them from E-bay or online stores like TGW.com They are gonna save you at least $400-500 if you get it there inclusive of shipping and tax... That extra savings can pay for at least 7-8 games in JB. Mizzies will always be pricier in general.. but if you are not gonna change your clubs for 2-3 years, they are worth the buck. They have better resale value too

| Wow! Thanks for the valuable input Begbie! I am looking at TGW too!
But just a qn, there are so many so called "golf wholesalers" online and their prices are around 30% to 40% off TGW's. I looked at it and immediately thought to myself, if it sounds too good to be true it probably isn't!
Is there really such good deals?

Is there really such good deals? One thing good about TGW is if you wanna resell, by keeping your receipt it will ease your sale in the future to ensure authenticity, secondly they have option for adjusting lie/loft/shaft/length etc for your clubs. If its too good to be true, it most probably isn't good at all.. Penny wise may just end you up pound foolish. But if you are seriously interested in the JPX 800 Pro, you are welcomed to try out my clubs at the range. Will be on leave from tmw onwards till Nov 1. But be warned that on the first few hits, and esp if you are a high handicapper like myself, you may just feel disheartened... But if you are good with your irons.. then these will sink easy on you...

But.... Why so expensive? Niche market I believe. And to what my instructor had mentioned, Japanese spec clubs are more built for the 'Asian' size and strength and perhaps its more suited for us. As for the 'pride in their golf clubs', its a mystery to me. Maybe its gotta do with their culture? Well, perhaps if I'm spending $3K for my Irons instead of $700, I'll take more pride as well.

| niche is one. another is small scale industries and market (for now). Another is japanese obsession with quality and their labour isn't exactly cheap. At least you weren't getting ripped off for somehting that is mass produced and then priced high to finance marketing and distribution cost. Another school of thought what is cheap for you might be expensive for others as well, so they all have their market segment in a way Cheers, | |

| Why are clubs cheaper online? and how can some sites offer them at such low prices u ask? well.. if you know the profit margins these companies are making, it won't be a surprise to you at all. in fact, it'll be hard to buy clubs are full retail price once u know how much they're making off you. Club manufacturers comes up with a new model every yr. and wat happens to their old models? they go on sale.. 40-50%.. sometimes even up to 70%. and guess what? they'll still make a profit. in the states, most golf stores have a 30-90day return/exchange policy. dun like them after 3 months.. return them and exchange them for something else. they clean them up and sell them at half price. no questions asked. and they'd even take em back in any condition. IMHO .. i find the the reason why Jap clubs are more ex is cos of the materials they use. mizuno has a reputation for using the best metal in the biz. maybe the miura fans won't agree.. but.. i'm pro mizuno.. so i dun really care what miura owners think | |

Thats a different ball game together bro. If you can afford a Miura, most probably you wont be seeking anybody's opinion coz you already have deep pockets.. dun like one miura buy another model 2 mths later... Typically, when your pocket is not deep enough, you will go around asking for advise coz you dun wanna end up being a sucker.. but then again, buying clubs in Singapore is hard not to be one...

I picked up golf only last Dec so I am not exactly in the know. While shopping around, i realized that used jap clubs are generally still more ex than other brands. esp the more popular models i guess. Ended up with a set of Tourstage X-blade CB2's and i absolutely love them!! i would like to add to wat ur coach mentioned about jap clubs. When i was living in the states, i spoke to Reps from Taylormade and Titleist (both personal friends of mine) and was told that if u're not at least 6" tall, these brands aren't meant for asians. unless they are forged clubs where u can bend the lie angle. however.. that being said, these days, club manufacturers of most brands offer custom fitting to suit different players with different profiles. jap clubs are ex.. i also dunno why. everything that comes from japan is just ex. not just clubs haha I started off playing blades and trained on them. but if u ask me now.. i'd say dun make life more difficult than it already is. get something easy to hit and that will give u plenty of confidence and lower ur scores. If cost is a big concern, then shop around for used clubs first. that way.. u can progress up to better clubs in future and not lose too much. my 2 cents worth..
