Golfers in the world

Just curious to know the stats:

According to Sports Marketing Surveys, there are 61.1 million golfers worldwide;

6.9 million in Europe,

1.7 million in Australasia

1 million in South America

and 500 000 in South Africa.

The number of golfers in Asia rose from 1.5 million in 1990 to 3.8 million in 1998. 13.6 million in Asia today

The number of golfers in the UAE is 7,000

The number in China is 100,000

There are 26.2 million golfers in the United States.

A golfer is defined as anyone ages 18 and above who played at least one regulation
round of golf in the past 12 months.

36.7 million Americans are golf participants, defined as anyone ages 5 and above who either played a round of golf or visited a golf practice facility."

Wonder how many "golfers" we have in little Singapore.

My guess is 6,000.

i though there was at least 6000 ppl cramming into Habour Front the last GN midnight sale.

I think it should be 6001 becos I am an aspiring golfer only....

I play hockey so I don't count.

But industry estimate is between 80-200k.

The answer did surprise me

Another interesting fact - 50% of all golfers in the world are actually playing to a handicap of 24 or more. So if you have HCP lower than 24, you are above average. Yippie!

And most play at Marina Bay on weekends

Avg score is about 98 i think. Read it somewhere

singapore got more than 6k golfers for sure

at 4 million people, 1% is 40,000 liao...2% is 80,000....5% is 200,000.
