| Maybe its kinda silly but the purpose of creating this thread is to actually show all golf newbies that regardless of how seasoned golfers are, they all have to start somewhere. To serve as an inspiration to all golfers (regardless of levels) that we all start the game as newbies. Oh BTW, the score below is from my game this morning... Yes, my first ever 18-hole. ** ** ** Let's follow the format below, just copy & paste. First 18-Hole Score: 130 USGA Slope Rating (White): 118 USGA Course Rating (White): 69.8 | |

| I remembered on my first 18 hole, I took down the score but to only chuck it one side cos it was terrible!!!!!! Dame stress...so decided to just sock in the experience.
However for my first actual score recording after 2 or 3 rounds, I decided to take the score and it was in the 130+ something.
A for the slope rating and course rating...sorry boss ..can;t remember la.
Cheers | |

| 20th Jan this year, Linkou Taiwan, West and South course. Could't use any wood, nor any irons longer than 7i. Tee off with iron 7, fairway with iron 7. When there was a lateral water hazard, lay up or hit around even if it takes me to double par. Couldn't do sandshot either. Luckily the course was quite easy on that - although the slope was 129... (I suppose it's because it was a longish course). Don't really know how to score correctly either. My score card showed 127 but that was scored probably by regretful and very bored colleagues who forced me to go to course and even lent me a set of clubs (I didn't even have a PC on my 2nd month of hitting balls in the range). Reckon it should be much higher stroke counts. Not very much improvement now, but number 127 became my limit......... | |

| I think most people will fall between with 120-150, so answer will be pretty similar. | |

| I remember the first tee off at MBGC, there so many people waiting to Tee off. I put the golf ball on top of the tee n it drop off 4 times. Haha. I lost about 20balls n didn't even count my score. Every tee off, I will shout " Ball" or o-shit! Hahaha

| With my flightmate kindly capping off max score per hole at double par, my first ever score was 120 from blue tee. | |

| My first 18 at NSRCC Changi, lost about 15-20 balls. Didn't bother to record the score, should be around the 150 range. It was especially memorable as I hit the buggy on the opposite fairway with my huge slice. To top it up, i didn't remember to shout "fore", got scolded by my dad big time. Luckily my membership wasn't suspended. | |

Luckily my membership wasn't suspended. Talk about shouting "Fore", yesterday's game with my mates was pretty scary with 1 very green player barely 3mths into the game playing at the 18-Hole. He didn't shout "Fore" so there were couple of near misses. One ball he'd shot fortunately rolled forward and bumped into my mentor's calf. So that was the only strike. There were several times he crossed my path directly in front of me as I was addressing the ball so I have to stop and re-address. I have to either keep a lookout for him, go slower than him or play faster than him. All that "Fore" makes me thirsty though. 2 bottles of 500ml mineral water barely can keep up.

All it needs is one shot from him to injure his fellow flight mates or other players on the course. As fellow folders in his flight, I would think we need to inform him of this asspect. After all, we play to enjoy the game.

As fellow folders in his flight, I would think we need to inform him of this asspect. After all, we play to enjoy the game. You are right. It was a friend who had only taken 10hr lessons with the 7 Iron and barely 3 months into the game. I guess it was kinda my fault not having briefed him on the safety aspects of the game even before he'd stepped into the course, other than telling him the fact that golf ball launched off any club has got the potential to kill a human being outright. I was kinda expecting him to read up more on golf literature on his own but guess his enthusiasm isn't as firey as all of us here. Wondering how can I poison him thoroughly. Maybe bringing him to Thaniya Plaza (its The Golf Mecca in Bangkok!) might work I think.

| No worries, just that I have seen a few accidents on the courses to be concern and draw the attention on course safety. Thaniya plaza will likely poison him to more buy more stuff! | |

| My first 18-hole was at Unico Golf Course, in Thailand, 1 month after i started daily golf lessons. My score was 123, as recorded by my caddy. However, she picked up my ball once when it landed in a bunker, so probably 126-128. That was in April, this year. | |

| My first score is probably around 150 at Austin Hill. Tough and lost lots of balls. But very happy. | |

| Played probably 140+ in my first 18-hole at Clearwater Sanctuary near Ipoh. Lost all the balls I brought at the 17th hole. With nothing better to do, I searched the rough around the green and found 1 ball! Managed to finish the game... ha ha.

| Too long ago to remember but I recall it was less than 110 at Keppel 10 years back (sad to say, my scores now are still abt the same sometimes)... My coach back then had advised me not to play 18-holes until I can drive >160m and consistantly get the low 50s for 9-holes at Seletar Base Golf course (which is now closed). What he said did make sense and I would advise the same for golfers just starting out to do the same.
I don't remember how many balls I lost, but I nearly lost my coach,,, a shank with a mean slice (dun ask me how to do this... I dun know even though I still do it now and then) that nearly took out my coach who was observing my swing from the side.
