| Duval As far as I know, reciprocal comes in the form of: - religion - clan - alumni - community service or volunteers
It's really stressful. Getting a place feels more shiok than striking 4D!

| The problem with SG is that the perception of getting into so call good school guarantee absolute future. There is nothing bad or wrong with neighborhood schools.
Sigh.... the material aspect in life in Singapore has clouded a lot of ppl's mind, even education for P1, we have to fight for it....

| I also had a hairy time when my daughter starts her P1. Applied for Fairfield Methodist at Dover Road which is 1-2 km from my home. So not entitled to immediate registration. 2 c needs balloting and as usual no luck. In the end, during 3c, applied and got in to St Margaret Primary which is just behind Selegie Road. After 1 year, she got quite good result for P1 and we decided to transfer her back to Fairfield. Went through the hassle of asking MP to help and all we got was a reply from the FMPS Principle hinting MP 's request is worth the shit ! They do have 5 vacancies for P2 but there were 13 applicants. Please come on certain date and have a test and your child's success depends on her test. Luckily she got through and managed to get in. My son got in to FMPS without a hitch then because his sister is a sibling. Story of my life...sigh. Watch out for Secondary admission. Its another hassle again. Luckily my daughter managed to get through to MGS and by middle of next year I will be moving next to the school. Phewww...

Did not know you have moved out from Hill View side. My daughter now at MGS Sec and son still in P5 at FMPS this year. Anytime if coming down to HV and can't find a carpark give me a ring, of course provided I am around. Well most of the time I am la.

| One thing is for sure, this primary registration is damn stressful for parents - regardess of distance from school, affliation, religion or volunteerism - who are registering for the 1st time.
However, all's said and done, it's a darn fair system...
