Yes, same as the bunker you have to hit the sand on the downswing.... just not before..... even if you touch a little bit of sand or grass on the backswing you are penalised... just as Michelle Wei was...

| in the hazard you cannot TOUCH anything, if your ball is covered by a leaf or a twig you cannot move it....
Bottem line you hit a bad shot... you are being penalised....

- If it is inside a Red or Yellow stake or line, it is Hazard and you cannot ground club..
If it is OOB White stake you must replay shot from place you hit it from. no other option.. Thanks for the clarification!

| Nientsu, am really new here & it's only my 2nd posts CCC, think in future its better for you to chip on the green as your wedges works better than your putter :p Thank you and appreciate all the gurus for clearing my doubts... Cheers | |

| I also have a noobie question. Scenario: Between the green & the greenside grass, my ball lands just at this line. At this line, the grass is longer than the green. So, I have problem putting as I will be topping the ball. Entitled to free drop ma? If the above doesn't entitled to free drop, I met with another type of similar scenario. The line that demarcate the green from the greenside grass is the digged-in/pot-hole type. So my ball sits inside the hole. Means I have to top the ball to putt. Entitle to free drop ma? | |

| depends on local rules.
in keppel, if your ball in the longkang btwn green and greenside, u are entitled to a free drop further away from the hole.
but elsewhere, 'u have to play where it lies.'
that is why tiger used his wedge to top the ball into the hole...
