Fastest Way to get a handicap

I need a handicap in 2-3 days. Is there any possibility? Of course I am talking about recognised ones... Kindly advise.... Thanks!

Just purely base on the time line required, I dun think it's possible.

You might wanna check MGA if they can offer but locally , I dun think so.

bro, u need to pass proficiency test first then go for handicap test. not sure any shortcut to that. i read in this website:

I play consistently 90+ and almost break 90 in a few occasion. I am not a union member so I guess that will take time again. I just heard of handicap "sale" but endorsed by MGA. I was thinking this could work. However, I do not have any contacts. Anyone can advise? Thanks!

U mean Malaysia Golf Association???they sell handicap??

Go to Daiman 18 in JB and tell them you need a handicap fast! Tink u hv to sign on their term membership and u can be given one that is recognised by MGA almost immediately.

try golf alliance.

these days MBGC check ur handicap online at the SGA website. They dont even want to see ur handicap card (one guy insist his card is real but they could not find his name in the SGA website so he need to take his swing test..they politely say he never submit is scorecard)

soon the rest of the clubs may follow......dont bother with Malaysian HC

cristel, dun think you ever need a pc for handicap.. usually as long as you can hit, you sit on the necessary seminars, and have a pro who would endorse/vouch your performance or done your courtesy rounds (plus any other specific club requirements such as walkaround with captain etc if exist) then you are good to go.....

I don't see anything wrong with Malaysia HC but don't go for the fake one lah. It's actually more than a small piece of paper, you need to know the game, most importantly don't kill yourself or kill someone else in the course.

For the index point of view, I have see some Golfer holding 14 Singapore HC playing constantly to sub 80s score and some 5 Malaysia HC playing constantly to high 90s. It's a gentleman game, you declared and submit your own scores. Be it from England, Malaysia, Singapore or any part of the world, it's purely depend on the golfer themselves and is not country related.

For recognition, so far a MGA HC doesn’t face any problem playing any course in Singapore and I don't think they will stop any MGA HC to play at their course. If there is any, please tell me and I will make complaint to MGA. Maybe I can get refund on my fees

I wrote to Daiman in Sep 2009 and this is their reply, may have change so check with them for a update

"To be eligible for the handicap test, first of all you must have at least 10 copies of the 18 holes scores played in any golf course.
For men, 3 out of 10 scores must be lower than 96, whereas for ladies are at least 3 scores must be lower than 108.

The fees for the test is RM367.50, excluding green fee on the course. After pass, you will be getting the handcap card once a month, up to 12 month. After which, you need to pay for the renewal fee of RM189 per annum.

You are advised to take the on-course test on weekdays as the course is not so busy. Weekays green fee is also cheaper."

I have been contemplating for the longest time to get a handicap until last night, my boss form taiwan said he is coming with guest next week AND wanted to play at TMCC, I panic. Hence my question here in the forum. I guess I will convince him to go play at elsewhere. Perhaps its also a good time to convince him to allow me to claim for my handicap fees, etc. MBG is doing maintenance on Tues morn so that is out.

The fastest way may be from Malaysia... just not sure if they are able to update your handicap into mga

Do TMCC see your HCP before the game? I may have forgotten but according to my limited memory capacity, they just want me to declare but never ask me to produce my HCP card leh..... The one that I can confirm is Sentosa, they never ask me to produce any HCP card. Maybe if got member to bring you, they will not check?

I agree TMCC and Sentosa never asked, macam I pay $200+ they are always friendly.

But time you suggest to your boss to sponsor a corporate membership at TMCC or Sentosa, at least a term membership now TMCC has one. Tell him in this little red dot, even our smallest GLCs/TLCs/GICs have corporate memberships, and our garment pays their admin service oppicers a hefty grant enough to buy a club like Keppel or RCC. So don't wait. Take initiative, and support our forummers next time we need to organize a charity game
