| Could it be???? - Quote :
- Tom Watson, on choking: "Everybody has choked. In the 1974 U.S. Open, I kept hitting the ball right to right. My nerves wouldn't allow me to adjust. That's what choking is--being so nervous you can't find a swing or a putting stroke you can trust, and gaining momentum from it. Byron [Nelson] gave me the best cure for it. Walk slowly, talk slowly, deliberately do everything more slowly than you normally do. It has a way of settling you down."

| You know most of us are beginners lah. For every good player there are prolly 9 hackers. Thats just how nature works. Its the bell curve liao. So us hackers play ard 20-40 strokes more than a premier player. As such we need 30-60 mins longer to complete a round, excluding the time to look for ball (3 balls avg x 5 mins) and the time to explore the course going to our balls. While skilled players proceed in straight line from tee to green in one or two stops (GIR), hackers do a lot of detours. Thats the irony lor. If u want the sports to grow, it will have more hackers, and so with the same supply of courses, the pace will not get better. Maybe we institute auto gimme as long as ball within 10 feet no more YIPS! | |

| Nah, slow play occurs when you have pro-wannabes who drives shorter than me and yet want to be weekend warrior and play off blue. *faint*
Btw, I am JC's regular beginner golf kaki.

| I agree with Eiji, the problem is that when we play with the macho men, they refuse to allow short hitter like myself to play from red or even from white... the latest excuse I heard was: "Your drive is longer than Ping_Ping what... how can you play white".... Doh!!!! | |

Im not saying beginners = play slow leh, im saying beginners generally will need more time to complete the round. We may even be proven to play as fast as skilled players if there is measure called "time taken per stroke" hahaha. See JC, you complete the round in say 83 strokes and e.g. CCC does it in 100 strokes. If he plays with you, he has to finish the round the same 4hrs as you do but he must hit 17 more strokes than you leh. SO either you had waited for him to finish, or more likely that he actually played faster to keep up with you lor.

| CCC is well trained....he is trying to achieve better strokes efficency per x amount of time for the maximum value. so that the cost per stroke is lesser and maximum pleasure is attained. | |

AND I am not playing 83 lah, I am more like 100 and CCC is the one that play 83. He like to give me 2-2 and treat me like a ATM machine. In fairness to JC, CCC is really 1 helluva quick to come, opps i mean hit golfer. He does not believe in wasting time. And it is true what JC said, after 1st nine last Sat, somehow CCC turn around and told JC, "Oi, siao eh, I give you 5-5 lah." For a while, I thot CCC lost his marbles. Thankfully good sense prevail and he took 5-5 from JC instead.
