Help! R9 screw issue Empty
PostSubject: Help! R9 screw issue   Help! R9 screw issue I_icon_minitimeTue Apr 05, 2011 9:15 pm

I think I have over tightened the screw and now the grooves are gone. How do I remove the screw? Can the screw be replaced?

Appreciate some advice.

is the screw still stuck? is it a 1 g weight port thats broken?

best if you can take a picture.

if its a 1g weight port, its not difficult to extract and replace.

Thanks for responding Eric. It's not the weights, it is the screw that fastens the shaft/adaptor. Tool kit can't turn the screw anynore as the slot is worned.

that sucks, from my playing RC car experience, normally in this case we have to drilled in with a small drill bit and extract it out.

Sometimes, it may not be the screw, but the wrench that is not working. It happened to me. And because of that, i bought another R9, thinking that the screw is screwed. With the new wrench, i am able to untighten the previous R9 screw.

During tightening of screw, R9 wrench handle will twist and give a loud click sound when the right amount of torque is delivered to tightening of screw. With this design, the screw head will not be worn out with frequent tightening and untightening. (Intelligent design and replacing the wrench is cheap...)

Now, I have two R9s and one wrench!!!

Speaking of this, does anyone know if when tightening the face plate of the xFT wedge, do we need to hear the 'click' sound? Cuz i can't seem to get the click.. Weird...

Thanks for the note. It looks like the screw to me as the slot looks totally rounded off and I have tried with my other wrench also does not work.

Agreed on the design and I have always thought it was fool-proof till this happened to me! Sad .

Just want to share my excellent experience at the TM store today. Brought in my faulty wrench and told the staff my issue with the wrench. He tested it and without further questions, took out a brand new wrench with pouch and all and gave it to me.

When asked if I had to pay for it.. he just smiled and said it is FOC and all part of TM service.

I must say I am impressed.
