No worry , just trying to prevent Amy misleading information. Personally, I think that is important too, but before the first foot, green reading is critical to determine the intended path.

| Yeap..... you are correct to say that. I am taught the following... Ball Fast/Downhill = less Break Ball Slow/Uphill = more break | |

| Duffy, Right and Wrong in your interpretion. If you are talking about green reading, usually downhill putt will break more and uphill putt break lesser. I guess the first foot thing that Wizgolf talking about is for the alignment of putt. In green reading, I like to divide the putt into 3 portions. 1st portion, ball speed is the faster and it break the least or no break at all. 2nd portion, ball speed slower down and break start to come in but at moderate level. 3rd portion, which is the nearest to the hole is the most crucial and break the most, I will consider the break and the grain direction of the green in this portion. | |

You not supposed to touch the grass infront you. you can only remove if there are some loose impediments, once you touch it and you are deem to have improve your line (which is confirmed most of the time), you will get a penalty.

| You cannot "feel" the grass to determine the direction of the grain.
16-1 (USGA) • d. Testing Surface During the play of a hole, a player must not test the surface of the putting green by rolling a ball or roughening or scraping the surface.

| Repair yes, because i think they get fine for not repairing their own pitch marks. Even our usual social play where we take the putter and stamp on the line is consider a penalty in a touranment. Just in case you guys dunno. | |

It can be. but when you stamp with your putter, make sure its just round the pitch mark. And for those old pitchmarks, I think you msut ask for yoru opponent permission before you can repair them.

| Yeap.. i have been educated very well when i first started golf cos my bro is part of the green committee. And also, very common with local golfers, then tend to drag the feet which will damage the greens. | |
