I have a Ping Anser in J Spec which states as SR.  When the grip was removed, the label on the butt end states as R.  I guess SR in J Spec is R in US Spec.

The R shaft in my R1 TM is definitely shifter than my Tourstage VIQ SR shaft.  But different Brand so hard to say.

Different manufacturers will have different measurement of stiffness... may be their material used and manufacturing process differs, can't really compare Brand A to Brand B even if it is R.

Usually US specs are stiffer than Asian specs.
