so donkey years ago theory of steel is heavier n stiffer than graphite does not apply now.....
well my 1 cent....

A confession - I was never a firm believer of club-fitters until recently got my swing "fixed", and got myself a new driver from you-know-who.. Driving has never been so enjoyable and pleasurable since..

I think every serious golfer should know his/her swing(s), and get it "fixed" for an enjoyable drive...

The rumour is that my handicap is a single low digit, the reality is however otherwise.

Yes, Starhill 84, but before that NSRCC Changi 105.

Steel shaft for irons is the norm for all good players, some may argue...here's some food for thought...

#1 on the 2010 PGA Tour.......

#1 on the Money List

#1 in Scoring Average

#1 in All-Round Ranking

#1 in Top 10 Finishes

#2 in FedEx Cup standings

What do you think the player used and how heavy was the shaft for the 6 foot 4 inch player?

Matt Kuchar , 95 grams .. But how many more in the top ten of each category uv listed above dont use steel?

I get your point though, a lot more amateurs should be considering altenatives to the traditional steel ... At least give it a try ...

Hi all,

Which should i use?

Use the Aerotech Steel Fiber shaft - 70 - 90 grams. It is a combi of graphite and steel shafts. Google it. A number of online Golf store is selling. Does that solve ur problem??

kg7068, he only two months into the game la... recommend him something so exotic may be more than a little premature.

I dare say he's not even sure what clubs to get yet, let alone consider what shaft to use. Very Happy

here's the man and his i95 in S flex.

steel vs graphite shafts - Page 2 5973597019_1d7cfeb3f8_z

steel vs graphite shafts - Page 2 5974156098_fc6bca401e_z

i was told that when MK first went out to buy a set of the Aerotech in 2009, his peers laugh at him and predicted that he will not last long as if its his last effort to stay on Tour. But he grew from strength-to-strength and had a great 2010.

this is what some pros had to say about his graphite shaft...

"When I switched to Aerotech Golf shafts, I was looking for a lighter weight iron shaft that could provide me with consistent ball flight and spot on distance control. Aerotech's SteelFiber shafts fit the bill perfectly. The SteelFiber technology has allowed me to take advantage of all the benefits of a graphite shaft yet still maintain complete control over my golf ball."

— Matt Kuchar, PGA Tour pro

"I play the SteelFiber i95 iron shafts and really love the feel and performance they give me. Moving away from the x100's and into the SteelFiber i95’s has allowed me to develop three different shot trajectories, instead of just a high and low. Plus, I've picked up a few more yards in the process."

— Cameron Beckman, PGA Tour pro

PS another pro on this forum is known to be using SF i95 as well.

Was using steel shafts with my old TM R7 XDs. Great set but when on the range and 'taking'divots off the mat it started to hurt due to jarring.

Switched tolight graphites and it's much better now. Takes awhile to get used to the lightness of the graphite - shaft is 55 grams.

being new, he should buy something exoctic and use it for next 2-3 yrs training rather than buying useless stuff, sell and buy again.

I still prefer the feel of the KBStour, especially regular flex Very Happy

but back to topic, is the graphite shaft such as Steelfiber good because it has some attributes of steel shaft?
