| Hi Guys,
Another question? I have noticed on here that there is a bit of talk about a PC card and or a handicap card. Being a former pro and now having regained my amateur status, my handicap is around 0 give or take. I have never had to prove my ability to get on a golf course. I know that in Europe it is the same where you have to take some sort of playability test or show proof from your club that you have the needed skill set to be on the course.
Are these needed to play golf here? I would think that it might be silly for me to take a PC test, but if needed I would gladly do so.
Also my handicap card from the states has expired. Would I need to get one over here or do I just need to show a print out from my last available month??
Thanks again for the help.
Dan

| hey Dan,
yes, all golf courses will ask for Handicapp card....one thing you can do is to do a transfer to one of the clubs here (golf association who are without estate).
One of which is MyGolfKaki....google the website.

| From my experience, they rarely ask for handicap cards (except for Marina Bay GC). But, it's one of those gambles which may not be worth taking. | |

| Dan, My golf kaki (MGK) website is here : http://www.mygolfkaki.com
I'm a member of MGK also and it maintains my handicap, plus cover you the insurance part. The best part of this membership of MGK is that it gives you preferred rate to play at Orchid Country Club (OCC) golf course, which is located around Yishun area (Northern part of Singapore). Weekdays you need to pay only around SGD70+ (including the golf pass) and weekend is around SGD125.
The only hassle, is that you need to be a member of union... www.ntuc.org.sg and need to pay for it.
But I think it's worthed if you intend to golf alot in OCC....

| Dan You r right. Europe especially is quite strict about handicaps. I was in Frankfurt last year and had to show my card in order to get on the course. Their objective to pair me with people of the same handicap (I was playing alone so gotta join other flights).
In Singapore, as far as I know, only Marina Bay and Orchid r quite strict with this.
I maintain my handicap @ Changi Golf Club as a Social Golf Member for $346 per year. In return I get 6 X 9-holes voucher which worth S$180. Besides this, you only pay when you play ($30 for 9-holes and $45 for 18-holes). BTW, they also accept handicap transfer.
Have fun! | |

| I just sent Singapore Golf Association a follow up email. I wonder if any of you knew...
If I have my handicap in the US would I be ok? If I brought a print out of it with me in my golf bag? Or would it just be easier to get one over here???
Thanks. | |

| Ok, I just got an email back from SGA and the lady who contacted me said that she had never heard of anyone having a problem using their US handicap to play over here.
So that should allow me to be ok on that handicap card front.
Thanks for all of your help though. I appreciate it, as it led me in the right direction for answers.
