Yup, will give a 2nd review after next Tue game.

in my opinion, the Possum leather gloves are best for use during actually play because its thin, soft and great for feel.

Greg Howard who is the chairman of the company tells me that if a typical lambskin last 3 to 4 rounds of golf, the Possum is good for 40 rounds. even if its half of what they promise, 20 rounds is really not bad for something thinner than your typical lambskin which last 5 times longer. heres a lasra test report....

Ok guys, here is my fr on the bfg gloves. Got it yesterday and played a game today with it.

Looks: I am the type that like to match things. For example, all my clubs must come from the same series i.e. if I have a burner 2007 driver, then my 3wood 5 wood and hybrid must come from the same series to match. So the fact that the gloves matches my driver cover and putter cover gives me a sense of completeness. The only thing I have been able to resist is the bfg bag cos my mizuno still matches my mizzie irons.

Feel: for those who try to compare to fit 39, it is in a different class altogether. I am a mountain cow but even i can tell the difference. The bfg gloves are thin and u can feel the club and grip very well. The fit 39 is thick and dampens the feel. However, being thicker, the fit 39 gives me a greater sense of security when i swing. The bfg gloves on the other hand are cool to the touch and feel luxurious. The comparison is like a nike running tee that is very thin and wicks sweat vis-a-vis a normal cotton tee or a durex featherlite and the normal durex white box one.

Smell: i have sweaty palm and my gloves really stink that even my maid complain. I put my gloves in the car and the whole car stinks. Somehow the bfg gloves dont stink. The only other glove that doesnt stink when i use is the potterline one but u pay potterline price for it.

So if i want to make a fair comparison, i wld compare to my potterline glove instead of the fit 39. The potterline is slightly thicker but still feels great. So this is better.

As for durabilty and wasability and tahanability, i cant say cos only got it yest.

My take? Keep the fit 39 for the hours of training on the range, week in week out, wash and rewash but keep the bfg gloves when u go on the greens for the better feel, the matching factor and the no smell effect. Just like i wear tshirts and shorts when i go driving range but i wear collar shirt and try look to abit more yandao when i play 18holes.

First Impressions of the BFG Possum Leather Glove with Blue Lycra Back.

Slipping it on, I found the glove a snug fit. One problem I've had with gloves I've used in the past, is how the glove's fingertips are too narrow and long (made for caucasians), my fingers don't reach to the end of the glove's tips leaving irritating bits of material leftover, especially in the pinkie and thumb. Not so with the more blunt rounded fingertips of the BFG glove, my fingertips reach all the way to the end of the glove. To me, this enhances feel.

My preference is for thinner players gloves for the enhanced feel transmission, problem is, thinner gloves don't last as long. While I can't comment yet on the longevity of the BFG possum glove, I can say that feel transmission is as good as that of a traditional players cabretta glove. Better in fact, since the glove fits all the way to the end of my fingertips as I've mentioned above.

Texture-wise, the possum leather looks similar to synthetic leather, with a feel almost suede-like. Cabretta in comparison is smoother and feels very slightly slicker. The impression then (to me at least) is that the possum leather might grip better in wet weather play.

The cuff of the BFG glove I find a little too long. That is to say that the cuff sits a little too high up the wrist for me (most gloves are constructed like this anyway). I prefer a shorter cuff, so I won't feel the material rubbing against my wrist at setup.

The Lycra fabric runs along the entire back of the hand and along the back of the last three fingers, keeping the hand cool. The sheerness of the fabric enhances flexibility of the finger joints. Keeping the index finger all possum leather is good construction since the leather around the index finger undergoes a lot of stress and stretching. The Lycra fabric for the prototype model is in signature BFG blue. While a great colour, I do hope that the final product will come in other colour options of an all white and an all black glove (easier to co-ordinate with the most outfits), pink lycra/white possum for the ladies and Slinger of course.

Having had only a cursory fit of the full possum glove versus the Lycra backed glove, I find the Lycra has the advantages of cooling the hand, quick-dry factor, and flexibility. Traditionalists will probably prefer the all leather version, but for the same size, the all-leather version had a tighter fit than the Lycra-backed one.

I've yet to take the glove to the course for play, so field reports on how the BFG glove holds up under regular and wet weather play will have to wait. And I will have to play 40 rounds before attesting to the durability of possum leather.

I won't be testing the washability of possum leather since I'm of the opinion that washing leather gloves is never a good idea, the detergents just strip whatever little is left of the natural oils, leaving the leather like cardboard when dry and very prone to tears.

In conclusion, I find this a well constructed glove suited to the Asian hand with shorter fingers. The possum leather is thin enough to offer feel rivalling that of the best players cabretta gloves. And if the durability is as touted to last 40 rounds, this glove will be a runaway winner since one of this will be equal to at least three regular cabretta gloves, and more affordable per glove to boot.

as you guys may not have known...

we have to produce 2 prototypes before the fingers fingers length and circumference was acceptable. the initial samples were all ang moh size and specs.

what happened was we used the Large, length: Small, circumference and have them in Medium.

i don't think we will ever have a perfect glove cos everyone has different preference. however all inputs are taken into consideration and we are nearly there with a glove that at least 80% criteria are met.

Turns out Gray is a funny bro He seemed more serious when I saw him at the den.

DGman, I dont know if the sizing range is too wide or not e.g. XL is 27 to 29, yes? Frostee ran out of samples. But I hope my size 26 hands will fit the Large model just nicely. I do prefer the one with Lycra, more fitting to my hand. This was from the first proto you showed me and Benny many months ago.

Waiting for production, see if this glove can usurp the fit39 from his place in my bag

Do you mean "porterline"? If yes, just sharing my personal experience with it. I tried one. But after 9 holes, I threw it away. I too have sweaty palms and as the round went on, I felt the porterline glove became more slippery inside! Perhaps it was just the sample glove I tested was not as good as those for sale.

Not really. As I mentioned, it could be the quality of the sample I tried.

took the glove out to the course again today for another 9 holes. Noticed more stuff on the rtf.

The design is good cos the leather covers the entire index finger. The lycra only starts from the middle finger onwards. This is impt since cos of the way most people grip the club, the index finger is exposed to more friction.

Second game and gloves still smells great.

Also this time i noticed that the material is a little sticky which grips the club well. Is it meant to be like this? Or did i spill something on my glove which caused it to be sticky? Anyway, i like the sticky feeling.

1st outing on course yesterday with the BFG gloves.
Gripping on all clubs was good and best part was, hardly felt that I was wearing gloves.
Totally not conscious of it. Very comfy.

Managed to hit an iron shot in the rain on the 18th. And I must say, the grip was not compromised in any way by the dripping rain. Grip test in the rain is a A -star!

After the rain, gloves was totally soaked so hung up to air dry.
Today, lo & behold, shape of the glove intact and fit is still as good as if it was dry.
You know how some brands of gloves expand/harden after soaked in water.
But BFG gloves retain its snug fit and grip very well.

Best of all, odourless! I am beri impressed.

the poterline gloves was brought in for testing but did not pass our expectations. it was suede inside and PU on the outside. it stretches too much and became soggy and lose its shape after a few use.

we will be making the changes recommended by the testers (some shy ones PM us instead) and more that we have added.

so far so good and we are sure its going to be different, performed to expectations and give our customers the desired satisfaction.

I have been using Wilson FG Tour golf (premium leather) for the last 9 months.

Went out to play yesterday again - 18 holes. 9 holes using BFG glove, 9 holes using Porterline gloves.

On a hot day like yesterday, I really appreciate the big piece of lycra on the back of my hand. Really feels cooler.

Also, the porterline somehow or other, dont know if the portline glove not suited for the asian hand or what, there seems to be a trampoline effect on the palm of my hand.

However, one thing that the BFG glove is not as good as the porterline is how the band at the wrist hold snugly. The BFG one seems a little short to sit nicely at the wrist for me. Maybe cos my hand is really too big lah.

Still no smell.

starting to like it more. but better not like it too much until I see the price. hehe.
