What should I do for club fitting? Empty
PostSubject: What should I do for club fitting?   What should I do for club fitting? I_icon_minitimeTue Feb 01, 2011 3:29 pm

Hi all, what should I do during a fitting session?
Should I just bring my clubs there, hit a few balls and let the fitter access?
Or should I buy a set of brand new clubs and bring there for him to fit?
Is there any diff between fitting irons and driver?
For irons, besides shaft, is it just adjusting the lie angle?

For this new year, I want to get my whole set fitted from driver to putter.
However I also want to change equipment.
I want to get a new G15 driver, a MP58 iron and a Zen putter.
But I'm afraid after getting, the fitter will tell me all this are not suitable for you Smile

maske an appoint for a swing analysis with a club fitter, bring your current equipment and go with an open mind.

don't decide on that equipment to buy first...

go see DGman and listen to what he tells you...

he has never given me any bad advice to date

also, i've got no comments on the G15 but i've got the MP58s but i also bought a set of ikasu irons which are a great deal more forgiving and nicer to hit...

Zen putter... you can't go wrong there...

Other than bringing your current equipment, think through and make a list of issues you are facing. Example driver feels too light (or too long), irons feel too heavy, or can hit 3w cannot hit 5w. Or you wish to close distance gap between mid irons, etc.

Relate your common "problems" at the course to the fitter. Eg, approach shots from 100m always go left but from 120m always go dead straight.

The list should also include what you hope to change or achieve through clubfitting and your estimated budget. More distance is standard request. Razz Think about trajectory, direction control, spin, etc

Some of your equipments can be re-assembled with different components (eg shaft). If you are hesistant or doubtful, some fitters can even do up one or two clubs for you to test first before committing the whole set. Rolling Eyes

From a golf swing perspective, the most important thing is to have a consistent enough swing. Doesn't have to be nice or look like pro. If aspects like swing tempo, transition force, strength, lag and swing speed vary too much then it will be very difficult or impossible to fit.

Also, know that everyone's swing changes over time. So the clubfitter can only fit you based on your consistent swing now. Smile

Bro Kian, we dun use covers so we can sell our irons in future cheap to fellow bros, not like your shifu, use headcover, then sell the irons more expensive than his purchase price... Razz
