| ...when played at the driving range and where bad shots don't count....
This is what I learned at the range: 1. The ball can't tell you have an ugly swing 2. I shall not change my ugly swing 3. Stop reading birdman's posts on swing theory...as enlightening as it normally is, the last time we played together, he said cock this, cock that...now, everything's cocked up..... 4. Half-swing, full contact is better that full-swing, half contact....mloy told me at the range that my half-swing is a carbon copy of duval's...can't wait to meet him so we can settle who copy who.......

Totally agree with GF, especially on point 4 "Half-swing, full contact is better that full-swing, half contact"...
as for point 3 "Stop reading birdman's posts on swing theory...as enlightening as it normally is, the last time we played together, he said cock this, cock that...now, everything's cocked up.....", well mine already cocked up, so should not make any difference...haha !!
guess it's time to have " Invitation challenge DS vs GF "...keke | |

| Golfool, I laughed at loud at no. 3, and I'm all alone, I feel ridiculous! "Cock this, cock that, now cocked up!" Totally cracked me up man. Theory time! I'm not surprised cocking cocked you up. Your 77 is evidence that you play well enough. No matter how your swing looks, it's a part of your DNA having been grooved over the years. Any variation (cock) just throws your timing and rhythm off returning to impact. Getting it right will take time to groove so your rhythm and timing readjusts till it's all back in sync. Your half swing is timed to return perfectly, my overswing is timed to do the same. If I swung like you and you swung like me, both using our own timing and rhythm, we'd both cock up. It's the bumble bee theory. It's not designed to fly yet it somehow defies the laws of physics and does. One school of thought teaches a wide backswing with a delayed wrist cock for more power. Another says an early wrist cock works sets up better for a delayed release coming down, and that it works better for amateurs. I tried going wide, and my ball ended up wide, and weak. I then tried the early wrist cock, it worked for me. More power and straighter shots for the full swing, and more spin and accuracy for chips and pitches. Go figure... And Mon, it's "cheow wei" not "cheow wai", if "cheow wai" everytime I go, the floor will be all wet. So the answer to your question is "No, not true". | |
