does anyone know if you can still play golf right after your wisdom tooth surgery?!?!

hi guys, i was advised not to exercise after my wisdom tooth surgery but my hands are itching badly.. anyone had any previous experience?? ie., played golf after extraction and nth bad happened?

if you are afraid of itchy and not the pain, why not...

i dont wanna leave the course halfway with my gums bleeding hahahaha

nothing bad.. just bleed a bit..

after the surgery, your dentist would have sutured up the operation site. minimal bleeding should occur on its own.
Doing strenous excercise might cause the sutures to come loose thereby leading to more bleeding. Also, the excercise would increase blood pressure such that more blood actually reaches the op site. Golf, luckily is not a really strenous sport. Unless you bet heavy though..the adrenaline rush would increase the blood pressure also..
Dont think the bleeding would stop you from your love for golf.
But do go to your game with the packets of gauzes that the clinic would have given you.
IF theres bleeding, fold and bite onto 1-2 pieces gauze but make sure they are seating over the wound. The pressure would stop the bleeding.

Surgery in the mouth can be quite upsetting. Even if all goes well, you won't feel quite yourself. You may encounter swelling and discomfort. In any case, the pain (however minor) will be a distraction.

Why subject yourself to a round of golf when you're not focused? There'll be many opportunities to play. If I were you, I'd rest and recover asap first.

@technospaz: thanks for your opinion.. i'll see how it goes.. my only worry is the oozing of blood halfway through.. lately the weather had been too good to be at home

I doubt there'll be blood oozing from your mouth but if it happens, that would really wreck your game. My bigger concern is the pain and that can be quite distracting. I've got enough things to blame for my poor performance (lousy swing, lousy shoes, lousy weather, lousy buggy etc.). I don't need another excuse.

But, as with all things, to each his own. If you do go out, I wish you nothing but an awesome and enjoyable round. You are right - the weather has been pretty nice of late

I think the last time my wisdom tooth removed (surgery) I have no other thought but to sleep whole day and night. Blood is everywhere.... gosh...

i think my dentist did a great job.. it stopped bleeding on the day right after my surgery=]

Probably if your extraction is straightforward, just gulp a couple of painkiller, and bite a couple of gauzes and you'll be fine...

@davehea: i took out 4 teeth ytd.. really surprised that i'm not experiencing as much pain as i expected it to be..

@technospaz: after a bad round of golf, we should look forward to the next round hoping that it's good.. that's the only way to cure the pain from bad golf hahaha

I always feel suicidal after my round of golf... then I think of the beer and it all feels better

If he has the drive to play golf even he has to go through the pain, I believe his golf game won't be that bad.

If it's bad, blame the pain

forgive my ignorance. But what has it got to do with your ORD? .. Thought after ORD got alot of time to do the surgery? Like 2 now ..2 later that kind of thing?...

@jolyn: i don't have to pay a single cent now but if i do it after ord, it's gonna cost $400 per tooth.. =]

Go for it bro!

We as taxpayers will subsidize your surgery!
