how does one know if wedge had worn off?

I play around 15- 24 games a year. Typically, I use my wedge at least once per hole.

Putting aside reasons like 'itchy backside', ' over surplus of cash' and ' Bank complaining that they have no space to store your cash'...........how does one tell if its time to change the wedge?
