| how would you feel if you got cheated by some guy selling you stuff on the forum?
would you hold it against the forum? would you hold it against the management for not taking care of this? would you hold it against the moderators for not taking care of you well?

I wouldn't hold it against the forum or the mods. I'd hold it against the cheat himself. But I'd do my research first and figure out if I got scammed or was just not careful enough when buying/selling. ... but whoever sold you that skin-whitening stuff should be shot!

| my view is i will hold the person selling the product accountable. The forum is just a means, and mods will be too busy if they are to police the marketplace.
Moreover the forum/mods do get a single cent for the sale, and therefore are not responsible.

| feel cheated lor, but unable to do anything about it. suck my thumb...
I think clearly no one in a reasonable mind, could hold it against the forum or the mods. No point blaming others for a misfortune. what's your real agenda MC?
I guess one should accept the risks involved for buying used goods, with the origins unknown, and the seller a stranger.

| Very hard to monitor all transactions. We all have full time job to do, and sometimes, multiple forum to take care of... this forum is open for all... fake item sellers also can register here too... Just make sure you get the contact of the other party, and announce accordingly | |

- Caveat Emptor
Explanation Under the doctrine of caveat emptor, the buyer could not recover from the seller for defects on the property that rendered the property unfit for ordinary purposes. The only exception was if the seller actively concealed latent defects or otherwise made material misrepresentations amounting to fraud. Before statutory law, the buyer had no warranty of the quality of goods. In many jurisdictions now, the law requires that goods must be of "merchantable quality". However, this implied warranty can be difficult to enforce and may not apply to all products. Hence, buyers are still advised to be cautious.

| One way is to design the marketplace with ratings like how its done in SG-roc/ebay. Where after a sale, a buyer will rate the seller. As much as this may be good but I am not sure if this forum wants to invest in this function. It doesn't necessary guarantee that this will avoid any scam cases from happening.

| KK, I would advise against it. Ratings can be subjective and if taken wrongly, can be rather disastrous. Ultimately, all users should just exercise common sense when trading online and accept one timeless rule.
That is this: no matter how much you try and how much you hope, there will always be people who are not as honest or forthright as you'd like and you'll end up feeling upset about a deal going south.

| Actually ..... does anyone remember the theme song for the show CHEERS????? it goes something like this: - Quote :
- Quote :
- Where everybody knows your name,
and they're always glad you came. You wanna be where you can see, our troubles are all the same You wanna be where everybody knows Your name.
You wanna go where people know, people are all the same, You wanna go where everybody knows your name.
so, thats the way we should treat the market place......know someone, then buy....

| May be we should be raising the 10 post pre-limit to 100. May be then not all Tom dick and harry can simply post and sell their goods. At least it has been long here enough to muck around. | |

COM'ON!! woah...*turn on sprinklers* well, GR is really too successful locally, on one hand, its great that sellers and buyers all acknowledge...this is DE place to get a good sale. So I guess its better than having a quiet forum bah. Every antidote has its side effects...just for the sake of suggestion, may be we can have a thread dedicated for licensed vendor/merchants only, should there be a number of negative feedbacks, the vendor/merchant can be dropped. at least the admins can segregate the merchants from the personal sales. charging fees etc is another avenue, don't want to go into that. its sad to hear about the complains...
