New Diamana 'ahina Shaft
Mitsubishi Rayon is set to release their all new Diamana 'ahina shaft in Japan on October 16th. The Diamana 'ahina features a similar bend profile to the original white board and utilizes the same Multi-Dimensional Interlay technology (M.D.I) as the more recent Kai'li model. The combo produces a very stable low launch low torque shaft designed for maximum stability and control.
The 'ahina shaft maintains great feel via a very soft butt section and keeps its control characteristics from a stiff tip and center section. It's the natural progression after the white board and kai'li and appears to be targeting PGA Tour players or the strong amateur level golfer.
ahina shaft by mitsubishi rayonThe new Diamana 'ahina will be available in three weight configurations 60, 70, and 80 grams with a variety of flexes. Diamana says the lighter weigh 60 gram model is a good choice for players with a smooth tempo looking to create more head speed off the tee. The 70 and 80 gram versions will feature more stability via a stiffer tip section for the more powerful player. Look like stuff that the strong swingers like Shamusan, Alvin7379, Slinger, S70B, etc etc will be looking forward to

| this is not the production stinger but the second generation of the white board. The Stinger is a once off made of Boron and will never be repeated. here are the details. the current shafts are prototypes for tour and not for sale. the retail model will be available in Oct or Nov 2010. so for now, you can only touch and feel. | Just read from GolfWrx than Titleist 910 will come with 5 stock shaft options and 'ahina will be one of them, and its the real deal, not a made for/OEM version of the 'ahina.
910 gonna retail at 399.99 USD when its launch.

| For those who are considering using the whiteboard or ahina,
Be advised that the tip and mid section are stiff but the butt section is soft(er). What does this mean? It means that if you are an average golfer trying to get a higher trajectory, please look elsewhere. The impact feel of the shaft is quite stout and launch angle will be low.
There is a difference between a boring trajectory and a low flight. The latter might not be an ideal one if distance and optimal carry is compromised.
I used to have the whiteboard in my 3 wd but after going on the trackman, I realized it's not an ideal shaft for me where I need a bit of a higher LA to optimize the flight. It's definitely low spinning but it can work against you.

| True that. I'm so used to the 'links' style (and firm) fairways here in Dubai that I sometimes forget that roll isn't something we can all count on in SG | |
