I used to be a cycling freak here. Done BMX freestyle , MTB Freeriding , XC , road cycling , triathlon etc....

Sold off my bike and changed to golf clubs alr

I used to do a loop or 2 of the eastern park connector every week.... but since I started golf lessons, I've been parking myself at the range every week instead

I got lots of cycling and triathalon frens. Even my ex-boss was a triathon, and cycle to work!!!

i did 4km on my dinosaur mtb and i almost fainted....was wondering if its a good idea to get a hybrid bike or a mtb with slick tires....

but cycling on the road is really dangerous!

u can try cycling to kranji with your golf bag...... not much cars there



then cycle back after your game........

theres a new group of beginner cyclist at gathering at yio chu kang that is starting out the mandai off-road trail!

shifu ah.....cycle that road wif my golf bag is a road of no return ley...2 way single-lane with so many heavy vehicles and bends!

sometimes whn i drive in to kranji i worry for those cyclist on the road....but some realli buay zi dong and hog the road!

Erm ok my 2 cts worth

A hybrid = mountain bike with slick tyres.

Road bike is a bike designed for road cycling

A hybrid is more versatile , you can switch the wheel to accommodate a xc terrain but you can't do the same for road bike.

If you're intending to get a bike, the minimum items must have are

- Helmet
- Rear blinker ( Red )
- Front blinker ( White)

P.S - one of the unwritten rule for cyclist is to hog the lane. Especially if a group goes together they should hog the entire left lane. It is much more safe for a cyclist, rather then keeping to the extreme left side of the road. This will result in cars squeezing pass you and this would be dangerous especially for newbies.

i cycled from sungei gudong to bukit timah before... quite shiok, esp in the night.

but yes, singapore roads is not friendly to cyclist. i kenna skinned by a bus before, hit a few pop-holes on the road, skidded too.

the news just recently topped it all about a car rammed a group of cyclist.

Is it more advisable to try out a hybrid first before venturing out on a road bike for a beginner? The slick tires on hybrid wunt puncture if go over humps hor?
