Ride for Rainbows… a GR Cycling Team for charity???

Dear GRians…

As we lay down our fishy sticks (or clubs) and state our claims to 300m drives, birdies, eagles, chicken wings, watermelon juice and a wallet that cannot close, may I appeal to your kinder/generous/sportier side to support kids and their families that may not be as fortunate as us.
 
There is an charity cycling event that is to be held 5 Oct 2013, Sat in support of Club Rainbow… a charity that provide comprehensive help to children who are suffering from a range of chronic and life-threatening illnesses and their families. I am wondering if we could form a GR team for this event to raise some funds. Basically, each rider will have to raise a different amount based on the distance he chooses to ride:
100KM: rider to raise $1000 before event
160KM: rider to raise $1600 before event
(Note: donors will receive tax-rebates as rainbow club is a registered charity, riders do the hard work)
 
If 100KM is too long for us, we can do our own mini version to raise the same amount (e.g. $1000 for 20KM???). Personally, this is the option I will choose as some of you know that I am suffering from quite severe back injury and I may not be able to complete the whole 100KM. However, I will cycle as long as my back can support me.


Our suffering will just be a few hours, whereas these kids and their families suffer for a lifetime. So, anyone keen to form a GR team? We can appeal for donations in another thread after we register the team.
