| Just a short, true, live story to spice up the forum.. our main fitting partner in Thailand likes to experiment and this is what happened...Pro Peep who runs the X-volution Golf in Bangkok decided one day to stick a BFG 5 series iron shaft tipped shaved from .370 to .350 into a fairway wood. he had very good results on the trackman and took the fairway wood out to try it out...it produced very stunning results. this was 3 weeks ago. then a playing pro who was going to play in the watermill championship went to see him because he was not happy with his fairway wood shaft which was a Superio. he recommended the pro tried out his makeshift BFG "fairway wood shaft". the playing pro, Ronnachai Jamnong was immediately sold and he paid Pro Pee to have fairway wood change. because it is a iron shaft, an inch have to be added to the butt to make the 42 inch. worse still there is a 3 inch black graphite area before the white paint starts. But Roonachai was not perturbed and insist on having it. Apparently other pros tried it and they too want the same switch. So now they have a back-order for those iron shafts. here's a pic of the Pro Ronnachai and his makeshift fairway wood shafts... whats more astonishing is his results after 2 days of competition.. Watermill Championship Live Scores Pro Pee was so desperate he wanted to fly out tonight to pick up the shafts. Thank goodness there is fedex overnight express to Bangkok. NOW The CONTEST....there is a prominent Thai player who is on a queue to get the BFG 8 series (same one as Yarra). the first person to guess right the player will get a St Andrew's Open 2010 golf towel. Yarra you cannot participate hor. heres the clue...... contest ends when the right answer is given.... DGman | |

| Wah ... Jon, I think you are pretty spot on on that... My guess would be Chapchai Nirat as well since he looks powerful enough for Graman 8. Another possible Srixon player I can think of is Pornsakon Tipsanit. | |

| Chapchai is currently on the Proto K 80X and he prefers the BFG 8 series...sounds like Yarra.

DGman On a side note: I still have not missed a fairway with BF8 shaft in 5 games or so. It is that good for me! Of course, I sacrifice some yardage off the tee but it paid off at the end. The combo (L4V X head, hate the sound at impact!) just gives me such confidence that I feel like I could go really hard at it at every drive and somehow make it onto the fairway. The balance is soo good, I don't feel like I am swinging a heavy shaft driver. Looking forward to try out the Kajiki 80X, though...

Ok, now you make me feel so ignorant since I can't remember when was the last time I played a .350 tip fairway wood. My last 3 fairway woods were all .335 tip: TEE CB2 (can't exactly remember this one, but I am pretty sure it is a .335 tip), Adams 3446-F is definitely a .335 and my PING i15 is believed to be a .335 too since (according to DGman) it is a tour issue head. If I can comment on your struggle, I believe it is more to the head-shaft combo or your swing more than the tip size. Unless there is something I am missing here. Can you please elaborate what exactly do you mean by: struggling on a .335?

| Yarra, occasional fat hits with my 5 wood that is a .335 tip shaft. Not sure if its the shafting or probably my lousy swing.. Eric mentioned something like .350 shaft on fairway woods. Thats was why i was thinking would a firmer tip help with hitting it more consistently since we are mostly hitting it off the deck..
