| ST. ANDREWS, Scotland — Tiger Woods has been using the same Scotty Cameron Newport putter since 1999, winning 13 major championships with it. But Tiger confirmed in his press conference on Tuesday that he is making a switch this week at the Open Championship.
Woods said that this week he is going with a Nike Method 001 putter. It is the same model Stewart Cink used to win the 2009 British Open at Turnberry and Lucas Glover used to win the 2009 U.S. Open at Bethpage

| I wonder if this was a condition for Nike's continued sponsorship? | |

unlikely that Tiger will be arm-twisted to use Nike Method putters as part of his endorsement agreement Tiger being Tiger will have control of whatever clubs he wanna use. He takes control of everthing. Period. When he started with Nike endorsement, only wears Nike apparel and shoes then slowly move to Nike clubs on piece meal basis even though Nike have full suite of golf equipment - but let's face it, some of the earlier Nike equipment cannot really make it I recall for a long time, he was holding on to his Titleist Pro 3 Wood and his Vokey wedges, and of course, his trusty Scotty putter... till now For those who toyed around with the Method putter, will probably agree it has a nice, balanced feel at impact. If Stewart Cink can discard his good old belly putter for this to win a major, similarly, Lucas Glover use it to win Major, it must be a decent piece of equipment Of course, unless DG man can convince Tiger to use the Zen putter at St Andrews.... | |
