| "bird", You are absolutely correct, the system will not detect, but I was told it should mmm... about 10 years ago! That is SGA for you! slow but steady! Have yet to know the latest about future linkage from all affiliates to the main server of SGA so to enable detection of non submission of card ! ..anyone know??? | |

- Punkrockpga, wouldn't that then give credence to what the golfer I mentioned earlier says, that not submitting the lower scores and higher scores would cancel each other out to give a more realistic reflection of their so called official handicap?
What would your advice be to someone who does not submit the two extreme end of their scores?
I'm hoping that this someone is reading what you as a qualified PGA professional has to to say since all my hot air fell on deaf ears. The spirit of the game of golf relys on honor, honesty, integrity, and fair play, period. The handicap system relies on the same principles. My advice to someone who does not submit all of their scorecards would be to examine the system a little more and understand that it is simply not an accurate handicap if a player decides which scores to submit and which ones to leave out. Nor is it true to the spirit of the game. I understand that some people could care less about the handicap system and play the game for completely different reasons. Some people are ok with the idea that they only have a handicap so that they can get on the course in Singapore on the weekends. To this idea I say great, play and have fun. However, as soon as a golfer uses the handicap to enter any form of competition weather it is a proper golf tournament or a $1 game with your friends on the golf course, or claims to be a certain handicap for the purposes of status or recogntion, then it is simply up to the individual to be honest and play fair. As a Golf Professional, I pride myself on staying true to the spirit of the game of golf, the history, and the basic principles of honor and fair play. I also like to teach these ideas and encourage those who love the game and are serious about the game to do the same. Again, everyone plays golf for different reasons and the bottom line is have fun and just enjoy it for what ever it means to you!

| I think the USGA Handicap System is not a perfect system la...cos the Sg golfer mentality is to ask for more strokes than they really need when it comes to friendly wagers. But seriously, there is the problem where some golfers play at their home course so often that they shoot decent scores but go over to a different one then the scores will balloon. After that, what happens? They get branded as #3 type of golfer. Look thru the Singapore Amatuer scores and you will see such eg. If u read some US golf forums like golfwrx, some 2 or 3 handicappers hardly break 80 or even smell something close to even par. However, telling everyone they are low cappers gives them a mentality that they are better than they actually are. So Slinger, I am close to an 8-10 capper like u hor. Luckily you are so gracious that we always play level so no need to get ourselves confused with all these stuff. | |

btw, me abt 13-14 now lah, tough to be a good golfer and good father at the same time But its always easy for you to throw your scores (which you always tell me you do that) during medals cos those scores in SGA takes precedence in your last 10 scores which is used to tabulate your hcp.
