| yes you can load. I am using 3gs and it is on os4 now.
Multitasking doesn't work. However, it is most likely that the apps are not written to multi-task.
Each time you switch back, the app restart. So...back to square one.

| Not all apps have been updated to work with mulit-tasking... Just some apps that are updated for OS4
In the App Store NOW: • Dropbox - Sync your Dropbox files in the background. • Evernote - Download and upload notes in the background, and continue recording voice notes while you're messing around in other apps. • Zagat • LinkedIN • How To Cook Everything • DocsAnywhere • Motion X GPS - Record tracks in the background; hear background voice coaching. • TuneIn Radio • OffMaps • WeightBot • Wordpress - Fast app switching, Retina Display optimized • DiveLog • textPlus • NYTimes • Last.FM • Tripit • ESPN ScoreCenter • Colloquy - Multitask ready and optimized for the Retina Display. • FlightTrack Pro - In-app SMS flight sharing • Pandora - Play your Pandora music, WHILE DOING OTHER STUFF! Essential. • Pastebot • ooTunes Radio • RunKeeper • Promodoro
Hitting the App Store with iOS4 updates soon: • Navigon - Navigon will keep shouting directions at you while you're working in other apps. • Skype - Will soon let you multitask while talking to grandma. • Nap App • Occasions - Local notifications • MotionMeter • Batting Goggles • Amp Music Player • Slacker Radio - Slacker Radio recently got caching, and soon it'll get multitasking support as well. • PlaceTagger • Rockola.FM • Task Aware

| Folders are nice, but I feel that the iOS4 isn't revolutionary. Multitasking is an unimpressive affair and since i need a good IM client always running the way I have Gtalk on my Nexus One Android phone, my iPhone isn't going to be knocking my Nexus One out until that happens. | |

| Probably a bit late for this now, but I hope you remembered to back up your phone before updating. If you did that, just go back and hit the Restore button. | |

| i can do multi-tasking too...
but each time i return to the apps, they sort of like restart itself. Then it defeats the purpose of having it as a 'multi-tasking'

| Dave, multitasking is not the same as having the app just appear in the recently used apps. Tapping on an app that is not supported for multitasking results in the app started from scratch, and not resumed from the last state. | |

Exactly, my test shows that it came back from the last state... so multitasking works... But not all, lots of them are still not supporting 4, so back to scratch.

| Mail, messages, safari and other os level apps Hage multitasking. Windows Line Messenger is one example of an app that should multitasking but doesn't, yet | |
