| Out of curiosity, did you get it from the eBay seller or did you buy it brand new? If the latter, was it at $599? | |

Hi there. The shaft (and obviously cost) will depend on your swingtype and swingspeed. I paid Big Fish (aka DGMan) a visit for him to analyze my swing and get me fitted with a shaft which was more suitable for my swing. Different shafts cost differently so I can't say how much yours will cost. I can only recommend that you do what I did which is to visit Big Fish and decide from there. DGMan is a great guy - he'll have you hit several shots with your current driver to analyze your swingspeed etc and from there offer you some recommendations. No obligations whatsoever. If you don't wanna spend the money on the new shaft, it's not an issue. But I did and now am convinced that a fitted shaft works wonders. Oh, if you do decide to visit Big Fish for the fitting, do come in golf attire since he needs to have you swing naturally rather than being inhibited by wearing office wear.

The Den is typically busy but some days busier than others. If you want a more quiet Den, try and get there before 5pm (but no guarantee that it's going to be quiet). You may wanna check with DGMan to see if he's around too. In any event, there are others who can help

| Took my R9 out for a run in the range yesterday evening with the Graman shaft. Started out like a freakin' idiot. But when I got my swing in and released the club properly, the R9 flies beautifully. I also enjoyed tinkering with the settings to match my swing. I'm now at NU (Neutral Upright).
Quick question for R9 users: I saw the video on the R9 and it says than when you are screwing the clubhead back into the shaft with the wrench, you should twist the wrench until you hear a "CLACK" noise. This means that the wrench has turned its maximum without turning too much. I tried doing that yesterday and never got that noise. I just turned the wrench until what I thought was the max. I didn't want to wear off the grooves of the screw etc. Anyone else in the same boat?

| Technospaz, its advisable to use only the white colour torque wrench to tighten the screw until you hear the clack sound.. It ensures sufficient tightness and will not damage the screw thread.. check it at least once a week if you're paranoid like me ... my old R9 head came loose when i don't have the white torque when i was playing in China so had to go to a golf shop where they use the yellow wrench to tighten for me.. | |

I used the white wrench which came with my R9. So yours has a CLACK sound? Perhaps I'm not tightening mine enough. I'm worried that if I turn it too much, I may damage the club or wear out the grooves.

| The wrench provided is basically a torque wrench. Once the maximum torque has been achieved, there's no danger of "over-tightening". I tried it that day, and i must say it feels pretty tight and a little scary to use so much force, but definitely tighten till you heard the click. | |

| It should emit the sound when you tighten, or else it will not be tight enough. Let me go dig up some old info on this and post when i find it... | |

| This is what i read from Tmag.com regarding the R9.... Hope it helps.. cheers
The R9 driver includes a new white wrench that must be used with both the FCT bolt and the movable weights. This wrench and this wrench only must be used with the R9 driver because the FCT bolt requires 40 inch-pounds of torque to tighten fully; older MWT wrenches deliver only 30 inch-pounds of torque Like previous wrenches, the R9 wrench emits a loud and powerful "click" when either the FCT bolt or MWT weights have been sufficiently tightened.
Why can't you use an older yellow, black or silver MWT wrench with the R9 driver? The R9 driver's FCT bolt, which loosens to allow adjustments to the head characteristics, then tightens to secure the head to the shaft, requires 40 inch-pounds of torque to tighten fully. The new white R9 wrench delivers 40 inch-pounds, however older MWT wrenches colored yellow, black or silver deliver only 30 inch-pounds. It's important to tighten the FCT fully to prevent the head from coming loose during the swing and posing a potentially hazardous situation.
One other TaylorMade torque wrench delivers 40 inch-pounds of torque and that's the red-colored one that accompanied the r7 CGB MAX Limited driver, which incorporates TaylorMade's SelectFit technology to give golfers the ability to easily install different shafts in the same clubhead. Because the red TaylorMade torque wrench delivers 40 inch-pounds of torque, it can also be used to tighten the R9 driver's FCT bolt.

| Noted, with thanks. I use the white colored wrench and will tighten the screw now to see if I can get that CLACK sound | |

I typically leave them at home unless I'm heading to the range after work. In any case, I've got a sheltered car park. On separate topic, WMF - *thwap*
