PostSubject: R9 or R9 Max (or 460)   R9 or R9 Max (or 460) I_icon_minitimeFri Jul 31, 2009 8:25 am

So, I picked up the R9 yesterday ($579 with a free TM boston bag worth $119). Tried it earlier and liked it. However, I wonder if I should pick up the R9 Max (or R9 460) instead for more forgiveness - I haven't tried either the Max or 460 so can't say for sure. Of course, the R9 has more adjustability but perhaps the forgiveness would be a better bet for me.

Anyone having tried them got comments?

PS. I've seen the link which describes the differences but I'm hoping for more personal feedback from R9 users.

Yeah, the shaft needs a swap but I was told that the warranty is void once the shaft is changed. I don't really care too much about the warranty since I've never had to get my clubs fixed under warranty. Anyway, that's a good tip, Mr. Lam. Thanks! Smile

Bro,

If we say that R9 Max is better, does that mean you are going to buy a R9 Max as well....

I was just contemplating about getting the R9 too, & also 2 minds about the 420 or 460 or Max....

Anyway, so far my experience with TM drivers has never been good for me. I've tried (never owned 1 yet) the 07 Burner, Burner TP, 09 Burner, R7 Superquad, CGB Max, R7 Limited, most of them with stock shafts & they all feel the same - totally forgiving but not enuf feedback. Even the new R9 with stock shaft felt the same way, until i hit DG Man's R9 with the latest prototype shaft. Only after that I think i can consider getting a TM driver, but must change shaft after that.

So back to the topic - which R9 would u recommend for someone who drives around 220m (but looking to go longer) & has a little ability to shape shots?

Appreciate more R9 users feedbacks....

Anyone considered the R7 Limited? Has MWT like the R9 but no FCT in a 440cc head.

Pretty well received and on sale now at Isetan...

Unlikely. I'm still undecided so it's wrapped up. If I want to swap the driver, I'll need to keep it like this at least for the moment Razz

Just got back from Isetan. Ultimately decided against the R7 Ltd. Had the chance to compare the 2 (R7 and R9 max) side by side and, in my eyes anyway, the 20cc does seem to make a substantial difference, especialy in the face area.

Technospaz, would you mind sharing where you got the deal on the R9? Sounds like a good deal. Do they have the R9 max as well?

Thanks! Very Happy

Hey bro, the deal is an open one, i.e it's not a secret lobang I have. I saw the same offer at MST Golf and Golf House. I picked mine up from Golf House Marina Sq. The offers for the R9s are as follows:

R9 (US Spec) - $579 + one free TM Boston Bag worth $119
R9 (Jap Spec) - $699 + one free TM Boston Bag worth $119
R9 Max - $599
R9 460 - $449

The only issue with the R9s is stock. So, if you're looking for a specific shaft-type and loft, I'd recommend grabbing one while it's available. I picked the 9.5˚ S-90 R9. Of course, it won't matter much if you're going to change shafts anyway but if you plan to stick to standard shaft... choose quickly Smile

Not to be an a$$ but if you're looking to get them off ebay, it's better to verify the authenticity of the driver Smile

I agree. Feedback and seller's ratings are of paramount importance for me. Good point, setzer.

Took the R9 out to the range today. It's pretty good. With a solid contact, the ball flies. I also like the steeper loft which I picked. I dislike the shaft though so will get that remedied at the Den soon. Quite pleased Smile

Picked up an R9 Max 9.5 S flex. Just got back from the range and love it to bits! Loads better than my previous driver and super forgiving! Too bad left hand a little blistered from crap gloves so couldnt play too many balls... Instant 20m gain! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
