read a book that whatever natural swing you have now is the one you will fall back on (Meaning its your instinctive swing) when you are not concentrating, tired, angry, happy, drunk, really drunk, with $1000 on the line etc. To even see a significant change your swing habit, it will need a few months repeated swings (with proper monitoring of swing). Even then your instinctive swing will be lurking at the back of your mind.

Tiger Wood took 1 year to change his swing (with the best coach, extensive training, special equipments and one season worth of tournaments, plus he was the god of golf) before he got good at it.

At the end the book say, for weekend golfers, its best to optimize your golf swing, cut out the serious defects without any major swing change. Weekenders dont have the time, coach and equipment to change a swing effectively.

Unless ofcourse if you totally cannot hit then you need the basics (meaning you have no swing at all)
