| Been trying to follow on the many threads started by the few gurus here. Am really having a hard time to understand the nitty gritty. Seems that everyone is saying can hit straight and far. For a beginner like myself, what is important is probably knowing what is the diff between one school of golf teaching against the other, and not get myself confused and screw up my basics. What exactly should i consider about the diff schools of teaching? Thanks in advance.

| If you believe the hype, every golfer can swing it anyway they want as they are all built differently, just as long as they get proper impact. The mainstream follow the traditional stuff which is all the catch cries that get thrown around like, swing plane, release, weight transfer, extend, clear the hips, keep head down, left arms straight, big turn. IMO that has proven a bit difficult over the last 200 years and golf scores havent got any better, maybe the hype isn't all its cranked up to be. Could there possibly be a better way? | |

| Yes bro, this is what i feel too. So many swing theories but for beginners, it is just totally confusing. I can understand simple things like if ball above feet, stand a bit more upright etc. No theory, just simple logic. And all I want is to swing and hit the ball without having to think about all the technicalities. Surely this must be the case. | |

Well Said!!! Can you please elaborate on the RSS then. Not how to hit plugged balls. (it can be moved with a penalty right?) Why not take lessons? Cos half of it is Bull Shit!!! Most pros want students to stand there and hit balls till the hour is up. Half the time telling them that "Yeah, that's the way"... At the end of the lessons its always trying to firm up the next lesson so they can do it all over again. I have seen Porn with more action. If you want to advocate that the TGM or the RSS is the right way to go to get buy in from potential students, please advocate you technique then. Not hitting balls out of divots, Going down on balls, release... I release every morning and your post still doesn't explain what you are referring to. With such a glorious thread title, one would have expected an answer inside the thread. I got the run down of Prison Break? Whats so good about your technique and why? And frankly, if you have had so many teachers, whats wrong with you? To the bros here, sorry about this post. I think it needed to be said, and I have said it. To the people that want to learn, you get in what you put in and more. but an hour every week in front of a person you pay on an hourly basis wont work on its own. Coaches have they place, but as a student... you need to.... Practice. Practice. Practice. there are beginners here that jio us to the ranges, jio us for games, we are inviting and really want to see more people enjoy the game. so please, if you want another ball for your flight, or if you want to join a flight to test your skills, this is the place to look for these kaki... I apologise to you most of all for my above post, but I dont take crap too well.

| I have been kindly informed that I have mixed up TGM and RSS and the PIE with the ECP. But I know one leads to the KJE...
Apologies, but point remains.. The circular posting manner doesnt help

samT, The best thing you can do is to set up 2 wine glasses and learn to swing your golf club through it. The idea is to start with a small swing where the club head doesnt swing past your knees. Do 3000 reps...LOL Then next you learn to swing through the wine glasses with your clubhead not going higher than your waist. Again 3000 reps. Next same drill but let the clubhead slightly over the right shoulder. Yes, 3000 reps. Lastly when the 9000 reps are done, do the drill trying to touch your clubhead on your left shoulder. 3000. By the time you actually finish 12000 reps. You will have a very good swing with all the right moves fused in. After this? Go out and hit some balls.

If you reply to a simple question is this: here is mine: 1. Use tennis ball- Errors will cost you less and hurt less 2. try 50 swings. You want muscle memory here. Unless you want to score 12000 on a 18 hole game. If you are attempting to be humorous. Don't la please, or at least try harder

| Thanks. If you are not pulling a fast one about the 3000 reps, at least i can see that it is trying to keep things simple. Maybe not wine glasses, but I can see what you are trying to say. | |

If you are attempting to be humorous. Don't la please, or at least try harder If errors cost you less, then you won't be so focused. 50 swings are insufficient to build the necessary neuromusclar pathways for the action to repeat on autopilot. We want the swing to happen so fluidly its like signing a cheque. I wasnt joking about the 3000 reps. If you perform only 100 reps a night, it will take you 30 nights or a month to finish the first phase. 4 phases will take you 4 months or so....just about the time for a swing to form properly.

Cool I want a lesson and I want you to demonstrate 12000, please bring the glasses Golf is an expensive game. you want it to cost more still? Oi, try harder

I am however far more concern now as, I cant even make out what you are advocating in your written word, which i read over many times to prep my reply. how will i understand your spoken? Oh you edited the post to add in the last paragraph. Thanks... so 12000 thru wine glasses was it?

| Aiyo Bro G_Man, why get so worked out. If you already have a swing that you like then stick to it lah (I wish I can swing as well as you), if you need a coach then find one that suits your swing. I don't like my old swing that's why I am changing it. Since I found one that I like, I stick to it and burn other books like David LB and Tiger W so that I don't confuse myself. When you saw me took so long to hit, that's because in my head I was trying to erase my old habits Bro SamT, if you are not sure which one to choose, then go see how these gurus swing. Choose one that you like and ignore the rest... well ignore is such a s strong words because each one of them always drop some gold nuggets every now and then... but more like stick to your preferred swing. Aiyo... since when I become this 'Loh Soh' ... oh ya, since I join this forum | |
