| Why is it that tour preferred clubs are usually of the following characteristics:
1) Driver head is usually small and compact - pear shaped. Why do the better players prefer a slightly open face rather than a neutral one?
2) Irons - thin topline to please the eyes. And little offset. Why is that so, performance and look-wise.
3) Putter - blades over mallets. heel shafted vs center shafted. Why?
Do the average players prefer them as such?

| 1) myself and my coach is because better player have the tendency to turn the hand faster . when we miss the driver will be mostly pull or too much draw.... but the shaped its by feeling
2) We used blade because it more precise when u it well ... but a lot of pro n single handicapt use long iron cavity back
3) PUTTER there isnt anyting like that . it more about the feel. for my case i prefer blade with heel shaft because i see better the line n help me that my eye not over the ball but one inch behing the line of the ball.. but choosing putter is like choosing a car or clothe or alcohol .... preference

| Actually, as long as its forgiving , I really don give much other hoot
My life is a mess, I don really need golf to be difficult to make it create another mess
1. Driver....does not matter color..as long as cost suits the budget and can fly....good for me
2. Irons: Must not be blade...can liao
3. Putter: Mallet.....coz of my overly active wrist...must be due to constant usage during my badminton days...(PS: bloody hell...all the fault of my state coach during those days...see lah...now my putting sucks)

Give the man a break... Give me a Kit Kat!!! actually from my experience its quite like that. as a beginner, my drives slice extreme. the they got straighter and fades. as my swing speed go up and my hands got faster and i use an inside out swing, i started to duck hook.. sigh.. go back to opening club face just to hit it straight

1) Driver head is usually small and compact - pear shaped. So that it is easier to work with the club Why do the better players prefer a slightly open face They are draw biases rather than a neutral one?
2) Irons - thin topline to please the eyes.Looks neater and more precise for alignment And little offset. so that they can shape shots both way. Why is that so, performance and look-wise.
3) Putter - blades over mallets. heel shafted vs center shafted. Why? I don't know
Do the average players prefer them as such? Depending on how they were influenced during their formative years.

3) Putter - blades over mallets.....Why?
Blades putter provides more feel over mallets and thus provide more feedback up to the hands.

| I kinda prefer mallet cos of the horrible putting stroke I have. Mallet head gives me better roll and feel making my putts more consistent. | |

| I defintely do not fall into the better player category, so cannot really comment about their preferences.
Only thing I noticed is that for putters, from the players on TV in all the different tours, there is a HUGE variety in the types of putters they use, no real one type or model of putter that stand out ...
Please correct me if I am mistaken and that Ping Anser type blade putters are acutally the most common ...

Hmmm... Try again bro! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) Putter - blades over mallets. heel shafted vs center shafted. Why? I dont think the above, is any better over each other or worst over each other!(if yes, maybe material, design face or special weighting) Each different types of models will be suitable for different types of golfers i.e their stroke type, preferred ball positioning, sensitvity to weights, left or right eye dominance and there are much more other permutation to determine what type of putter each individual golfer will be most suitable for. I am not qualified to say who will be suitable for which type of putter, but for myself I am left eye dominant and i stroke with very little arc with a ball placement nearer my left foot(weight 60-40) i am happy with a half mallet type with a S bend tilt slightly back (2 degree). Do experiment with all, choose one which u are most comfortable and be able to see the target line and feel that u are hitting square .... nothing magical !
