I like to share this information to all new golfers when buying new irons. Lie angle is very important. Getting a correct lie will enable you by hitting your golf ball further and much more accurate as well.

There is a reference chart below.
Messure standing straight wearing golf shoes from wrist to Ground.

Correct lie angle
31" 3 degrees flat
32" 2 degrees flat
33" 1 degree flat
34" Standard lie
35" 1 degree upright
36" 2 degrees upright
37" 3 degrees upright

Hmm.. I think dynamic lie angle is more important...

Static = while you standing
Dynamic = while you swing the club

Go to club fitter to get dynamic lie angle...

static fitting can be found on many online golf retail shops, dynamic fitting would be more accurate as not everyone setups the same way or have identical impact positions

yup true. my wrist to floor is 34.5" but considering my swing is rather flat i had to personally bend my clubs to 3*flat(proshop afraid they might 'pop' the iron head,so i do it myself.. hehehe).

Suddenly, have the following questions :

How abt for drivers ?

If most mass market drivers are coming with 45.5inch for above shaft and later if re-fit it to say 44.5inch (1 inch shorter) , then it will also affect the lie angle right ? Can driver be adjusted on its lie ?

How abt fitted with shorter shaft ?

Say, if your wrist to ground is 35 inch => + 1 deg upright . if fit with a 1 inch shorter shaft, does mean no need to adjust lie ?

Very Happy

Some drivers can be bent at the hosel (but note that bending lie angle may affect loft), while others have that adjustability, e.g. Nike STR-8 FIT drivers
