| this is not an uncommon situtation. both balls not touching the lines but swings are impeded by the stakes on each side n u r right handed golfer. what options are available to you?? | |

| A> Out of Bounds (White stakes):
see definitition of Out of Bounds, the stakes ae not obstructions and deem to be fixed. ie. you are not permitted to remove the stakes, and not entitled to any free relief. so it is hard luck in this case. you play the ball as it lies or declare it unplayable (ie proceed under penalty drop - rule 27
B> Hazard stakes (in this case the red stakes)
see definition of Lateral Water Hazards, the stakes are obstructions ie you could remove the stakes to play your next shot. However, most course in Singapore define the red stakes (as well as yellow stakes) as immovable obstruction. in this case, you could take relief without penalty to drop your ball within one club length of the nearest point of relief.

| The rule for unplayable shall be rule 28 (not rule 27) | |

| What about the distance markers which some courses plant as stakes too? Are they removable or not?
A very common scenario too.

| Distance markers are movable obstruction (as per rules of golf). However, in most Singapore golf courses, the local rules define the distance makers as immovable obstructions (the local rules are printed on the back of the score cards, read them before you start your round) | |
