| Good day,
I need to get a new driver but I'm stuck between these 2 models. I've heard some people say that the R9 460 is quite difficult to use. I've tried my friend's old Burner and think its a good driver. Any suggestions? Or maybe another brand? Some people keep mentioning the PING G15 or something like that. Is that better than the TM drivers? Thanks.

| It really depends on your preferences. Outlook, sound, weight, flex, loft, feel, forgiveness, distance, etc etc. There are always a thousand and one models coming into the market everyday, you just have to first understand what you need before getting one. Ask to try demo clubs at ranges... come to Starry Starry Night and try out different drivers of fellow GR members... to find out which ones you feel better with.
Typically most new drivers are relatively forgiving as manufacturers have made the club face much bigger. Each brand and model have their own advantages/ selling point and there is no need for you to compare them until you try it out yourself. They can say the driver until it is so good... but if it doesn't suits you... it doesn't suits you.

| I used the Callaway FT-IQ driver last time but can't really swing well with it. So i tried the R9 and absolutely love it. So i got one R9 460 with fujikura shaft and it works really well for me. But since malaysia dun have Burner Superfast yet, so i can't really tell. | |

| Just to add to the already great points raised by alvin. IMHO you must psychologically like the driver. This adds to the confidence level and the commitment you will have for the club. That will be the starting point even before you decide to pick it up and try if it suits you. So back to your question on the burner or the R9 or the G15. All 3 feels and looks very different in may aspects at address. So which appeals most to you? Or is there any other makes that appeals? Here's where you start culling and thereafter sample. Hope my 2 cents worth is of help.... | |

| If you can stand how the Burner look at address, by all means, get the Burner instead. I supposed we are not talking about tour product here and the R9 460 is simply B.A.D.!!! Trust me on this one, I hit virtually every TM products, whether it makes it into the market or not... | |

| First of all, R9 (smaller, 420cc head) is a good product, don't get me wrong. But it is not, naturally, as forgiving as the R9 460 or other 460 head for that matter. In the right hand, it performs good. Playability is good, tweakability is certainly better than most. BUT, trying to find a combo that fits is hard. Some (even the pros) claim that they actually loose distance over it. It took me a year to actually find a good fit for the combo. Even then, it don't knock my 282 Superquad out of my bag!
The R9 460, while more forgiving, is actually a very spinny head even in tour issue form. It launches high, which is something that I do not need since I am a high-launcher player. Distance-wise, it is longer than the smaller R9 but only marginally. Still does not knock the 282 out. Ok, most of us mere mortals will not need the playability. So the R9 460 could be a good product. But for some spinny hitter like myself, the ball simply don't roll after it falls out of the sky.
Again, this is just my 2-cents. My opinion from what I experienced and the experiences of a bunch of guys who often plays together with me. Personal preference and swing type certainly difer from one individual to another...
Edited: forgot to mention the feel... The smaller R9 feels good, solid. The R9 460 feels somewhat hollow to me...

| Anyone got a review on the latest Burner Superfast ..... how much distance gained vs 2009 Burner, is it just as forgiving? | |
