How do you stay behind your ball during impact?

Why do you want to be behind the ball? I trying to get more on top at impact so can compress ball better

if you are worried that you might be sliding forward on the downswing there's a couple of drills you can do. 1. hit balls from the edge of the mat.(left foot at the edge)if you slide you'd slide off the mat 2. have a stick planted into the ground(you could tie it to the range basket) so that it is upright and against your left leg. When you swing through you should not bump into the stick.
