They will decide their gender by the clolour of the tee box. Those tee off from blues are men, from red are women, from white - they are in between men and women, aka undecided. Make sense?

| I met a young man with his parents struggling with their every shots infront of us at Tanjong Puteri last sunday. Obviously they were beginners as they were topping and slicing away so we could not wait any longer and, with Marshal's agreement, we skipped the hole and went on to next hole. As we drove past the young man, I said to him that they should have gone to Course C where there were less people and it's meant for beginners. He shot back and said they are not beginners. And I said : But you are not a woman too, why did you tee off from red tee?
There are many short hitters and beginners who play from blue tees on week ends, disregarding traffic jams behind them. Those are the stupid egos.

Make sense? That bl..dy well don't make sense to me. I believe in playing according to your handicap. If you are not qualified to play blue, for F... sake play white! So you are encouraging even the beginners who can't really hit the ball for sh.t also must play blue? Then I hate to say this, I don't like to play behind your flight ! Thats my true feeling stated as it is. I hate to play with golfers who use ego to decde what color tee to play and not their standard. Sure you may be qualified to play blue, though I don't know whats your HC is, but you should not encourage beginners with this line Titu

| Bro, first you must state whether you are playing A course or B course. If you happened to play A course which is a member's course, they might be members of the club thus entitling them to play A course so they have every right to play there and I presumed they tee from white or even red like you said. In fact, I like this guy who knows he can't play well and decided to play from RED! Don't tell me when you were a beginner, you don't play this way? Come on bro give the guy a break. He did not use his ego and play white not to mention some people who plays like him plays from the blue. I have my say. The ball is back in your court but I won't be hitting it back to you as I have decided to not to play your kind of game. Just being me.

| Take it easy guys, my post is simply tongue in cheek, about blue, red, or undecided tees.
Tituman, I played course B last sunday although most of us (2 full flights) were members of Tjg Puteri and we are regular there.
The angmo kid was teeing off from red(he's probably 17 or 18), with his mother. His father was teeing off white. So they were teeing off the right tees. No issue with that.
We were all low to mid handicappers teeing blue.
The mother was the best golfer among the three, father were son were topping like first timers.
My point was :the kid said they were not beginners, which we could not believe from they way they handled the ball. There were 4 flights being held up (we have 2 flights, plus another 2 other flights behind us), and they refused to let us play through, instead they claimed they were not beginners and they were not slow. They must be hitting more than 10 strokes each for Par 4 before they even got to the green!
So my point to the kid was, if you are not beginner, why tee off from red? I was not asking him to tee off blue, but I was making a point that he was not honest about his status, and being defensive on holding up play.
Eventually all four flights drove past them, one after another. We were patient for a while, but we could not take it anymore.
When I started golf, I picked off peak time slots, and courses with fewer players and I looked back often to wave people through. It was a sunday, with crammed tee off times, so they should have either played Course C, or let faster players play through.
Sorry for taking the thread off a tangent. This is for Horizon Hills. Not about defensive slow players.

| This is a classic example of how one's message can be interpreted differently by different ppl. When I saw freedrop's post, I understand what he meant. Titu took it differetly.
Kudos to freedrop for bothering to explain and titu from accepting the explanation
Guys, pls note that a message's original intention can easily be misunderstood.......just like an email has no tone. Happy CNY

- Fair enough bro. Though your first comment sounds too egoistic that you gave the wrong signal of what you truly are. I am not the only one bothered with it. We all have to start somewhere and its a fact some people don't know the etiquete of golf enough to wave others thru if they are truly slowing down play. Anyway, glad you came thru with your explanation and show us you are not one of those egoistic golfer which we had a discussion earlier. Cheers mate. Hope to play with you one of this day if possible. Long Live Golf Republic !!!
: It is a common pitfall that many golfers who play well, slowly and unknowingly lost their patience and tolerance towards the newbies. If this incident happen in angmoland, probably it is not a problem at all. the pace is slowly, and people are more relax..

| OK, now that everything is clear, let's get back to the original thread. I take no offence at other's innocent misinterpretation of my analogies, so no worry.
Here's my first time impression of Horizon Hills GC. I'm sure others have played there before and have their own opinions too.
1. A reasonably challenging course with most fairways narrower than I expected so straight drivers are absolutely necessary. This is no resort course, I can tell you. Overall distance is not that long, not even 6,000m from blue tees. But Hole 2 Par 5 is designed to keep me away. I can only tee off with 5 Wood before first creek(210m into water). My driver will land in water and not enough to carry the creek (230m to carry into a tight spot so not worth the try). And with a second creek before the green, it's tough to get on within regulation unless you have crossed the first creek with your tee shot. Not an easy hole. It's indexed at 1. For a short (488m) Par 5, a mid handicapper will find it difficult to par this hole becasue of the layout.
2. Most of the other holes are not that long. The par 4's are generally easier at 350m and less. None of the Par 5's is above 500m so other than Hole #2 above, they are not difficult provided you can land your balls in the narrow fairways. Bunkers are strategically located within your drivers so some holes need to be played with 3 or 5 wood off the tees, while careful placing (away from bunkers) will help reduce your scores, especially if you have not played there before. Some of the bunkers looked easy to carry but don't be deceived by them.
3. Course condition is good except for surprisingly bad drainage. Quite a few patches with water retention and I don't remember any rain last few days. One cannot help feelling that there was quality slips, perhaps someone got off with less sand layers than specs called for.
4. Buggy on track is a turn off, especially in holes where access to fairways can be winding due the water hazards.
5. Greens are real slow....probably about 7ft today. Almost every green is closely guarded with bunkers, and some of these hazards are more than a meter deep..
For RM155 on weekday (with lunch), I think there are other more friendly course in JB to play, unless one is looking for challenges.
