| Anyone has any reccomendation to get for GPS devices or are they all about the same American Garmin to Local Shinco?
Where to get also?
I might be flying next week and thinking of picking up one set at Duty Free, but from what I look at it; $399, $499. I think about the same price at the end of the day.

| No, its not the same...
Buy brands like Garmin or holux... but my personnel preference is garmin becoz of the fact that its easier to find overseas map if required....
Anyway, i think you can buy a garmin gps from eastgear at 300 odd. Otherwise, maybe you can look for a second hand set.

| One important thing to consider is the map. I believe garmin will give you better chance of finding maps. | |

| Garmin is good. I bgt a Garmin nuvi 260 last year from the USA. Great stuff. This is one GPS that actually tells you to "Turn right" BEFORE THE TURNING. I have seen friend's GPS who is always telling to turn after the turn. Garmin is also user friendly. Then 2 weeks back my car got broken into and my GPS, ipod etc etc got stolen....insurance dont cover.....KNN donnoe why the fark I buy insurance in the first place. Everything also dont cover....the only thing they cover is their own AS S. Anyway, back to the point....I ordered my second GPS from the USA yesterday. So if you are interested, let me know and we can split the shipping charges. PM me for more details. If you buy Garmin from USA, it comes only with USA maps. I have the singapore map. I can upload it for free for you. Only condition is that if we ever get the chance to play together, the stroke advantage to me is at least 2 - 3 - 3..... | |

I got one for my sister - out-law on Saturday... Ard 299... The price range for the GPS are rather large. from 200 to 650. For driving use, get teh Garmin la. The maps are easy to find and download. and the user interface is okay.

| I got my Garmin 750 from the US about a year back. It was a life-saver, esp in the US where driving around is almost a must. I've since brought it back to Singapore and recently got Singapore/Malaysia maps at Trends Mobile. Pretty useful though Singapore roads are a lot more organized | |

| The GPS is only as good as the maps... I find Garmin maps are more updated and easier available, especially "homebrew .. ahem.. *cough* cough* versions. For local maps, sites like Malsing maps update the SG and M'sia maps pretty frequently. I personally like the interface and maps of MioMap, but the maps are usually not as updated as Garmin. So my recomendation would be a Garmin | |

| BTW, try amazon.com for the Garmin. Cheapest around.
My previous set was a refurbished set which works like new. Costs me only S$180 before shipping.

Only condition is that you'll need to use your citibank credit card. Their rates are cheaper and service is better. Vpost sucks. I have already boycotted them. Those guys have farking NO IDEA how to manage inventory
